Yeah, Jack... There has been a history of serious corruption and graft in the unions. I guess anytime you get a bunch of guys in a position of power... the greed comes out. It's a sad situation. I'm with you, I don't think there is much we can do about it... But, I for one would die trying if they were screwing me. But, I'm just an ornery old coot who ain't scared of just about anybody. There are some good companies out there that don't treat their employees like expendable trash... It would be a cool thing to get a bunch of these good CEO together to brainstorm ways to get the baddies to make some changes? Just a silly idea from another peon who quit playing their games over 30 years ago. That's a major reason I went into business for myself.
As for your union boss wanting a bribe under the table... I prolly would have paid it. Then I would have got a bunch of the boys together and found him somewere alone and wized him up a bit... Getting your arse kicked pretty bad with a serious threat of never being able to walk again if it happened again would prolly do the trick. Or, it may get you killed? I was never one to play by the rules when someone wronged me... But this kind of action isn't for everybody.
