Another nutter from New Zealand

I am from New Zealand and have just started building a teardrop that I am basing on the Kenskill.
I am going for the slightly bigger 1500mm by 2800mm (yes it's all in metrics down here - com'n Yankies, get into the 21st century !!).
I fell in love with the teardrop concept when I went looking for some designs for a basic luggage trailer.
I now dream about these damn things in my sleep !
I have swung from totally complicated auto everything, to the good old K.I.S.S.
Because I want friends and family to also enjoy it's use "simple" seems to be the order of the day.
Anyway, I have just discovered another Kiwi here who has already completed his so I am off to see his finished product this weekend - exciting!
I have just nearly finished welding up the frame and am sure it's overbuilt - still, better that way than too light and then breaking.
Given the huge effort on this site I feel absolutely obliged to keep an album so that's under way and i'll get posting photos soon.
This is a brilliant website. Keep it up!
My wife is already a teardrop widow. :thumbsup:

Craig,

Welcome to the zoo I mean assylu..I mean board. There are other kiwis and aussies on the board so you are not alone.

You can get your wife involved by having her decorate the inside and Galley.

If you are painting yours she can pick the paint colors or designs she would like to add. If she helps pick a theme and name for your tear she will feel involved and probably excited about, of course then you are in trouble :lol: :lol:

Well, we tried that... but it only really stuck with liquor bottles and guns/bullets... maybe there's a message hidden there somewhere.../g/

Our typical liquor bottles and 750 ml and 1.75 L... probably because we import a lot of wine and liquor..... I think the gun thing is because we want to be able to use our enemies bullets we find on battlefields.

I saw a teardrop this weekend at a gathering of Kayakers. I am not sure if it is Alan's that you are going to have a look at.

Anyway I have just joine the forum and feel at risk of catchig the bug.

Richard (richwit) I am fellow Kiwi and did manage to meet up with Craig. :D

I had my Tear at the Kayak builders get together in Rotorua.

How about introducing yourself or sending a pm, it would be nice to keep track of how many kiwis are interested and maybe have a gathering some time. :thumbsup:
