Found a premade rubber cover for piano hinge....

I was at a truck cap center today and saw this gasket lying on one of the covers. This is used to seal the piano hinges on the flat tonneau covers made by Advanced Covers in MI. http://www.advancecover.com/ It is attached with double sided tape that comes with it and can probably ordered through any truck accessorie place that sells Advance Covers.

That looks great. I wonder if it sticks to wood or varnish. Might need some alum. strips anyway. Still great to not have to cut.

About tape -- I am using a tape called Eternabond that sticks to anything except silicone. It is used to fix RV roofs, etc.

I think there is a double-sided-tape also. And a black tape. For info contact: <[email protected]> He answered all my dumb questions.

I think the manufacturer wanted $68 for a 33- or 37-foot roll.

I have just used it to fix my leaky vent, a Boy Scout plastic water jug that leaked, a metal gas can that leaked, and a tent that had holes in the side. It fixed everything but the cat. (She had to sit still while I cut the tape out of her fur.) Sticks GREAT to cats.

Also used it for the side-to-roof joint. Not pretty, but pretty effective! Check on the double-sided Eternabond tape for your rubber molding.

Any extra tape comes in VERY handy!

Absolutly... Any time I can I stop at Rv , boat , truck, trailer, or car parts place just to look around. Don't buy anything , but pick up all sorts of ideas. ThenI go home and think about them. Six weeks later i come to a situation where I think... Hey! I saw something somewhere that will work....and spend the next two weeks trying to remember where I saw it.......

I called the Number for Advance today, they were very helpful .A seven foot section cost me 13.00 that included S&H.
