Slide out for the Cooler - Assistance

Postby Classic Finn » Sat Jan 20, 2007 10:03 am

Dear Friends

I would like to install a slideout system for our cooler.

Even though the technical specs have nothing to do with the slides but here is our cooler. The Isotherm TB 32

TB 32 comes with injection moulded cabinet and a blow-moulded detachable lid. High-density insulation and an integrated evaporator, ensures food and drink are kept cooler for longer. An internal light is mounted. The TB 32 also incorporates an AC/DC converter as standard and its multi function electronic thermostat has an ECO function that keeps electrical consumption to a minimum. It has recessed hand-grips.

TB32 - 8.45 gallons real capacity

It will not fit in the length way.. only side.. and Id like for it to slide out.
the original accessorie is very expensive here ... meaning the slide out system... and its in my opinion no better than the slide brackets available at hardware stores...

Heikki, Since you want to make your own slide out for the cooler just make a tray from 1/2" Baltic Birch Plywood. I would make the tray 3" tall and use 1/2" for a flush bottom. Make a separate front to match your cabinet fronts for a nice finished look. Your drawer guides should be a minimum of 100# load and full extensions. American slides come in even lengths. If you will have left over space behind the cooler then make a partition to hold the cooler and use the extra area for other storage. :) Danny

Hey there, Heikki!

Don't forget that thing needs air around it to work properly, and a source for fresh air wouldn't be a bad idea. Have you thought of an air vent opning in the floor or something of that nature?

Hi Grant
Ive thought about small vents of stainless on the sides... as for yachts or boats with the cabin..but the air movement is a good piece of advice..

Thank You

Good call Grant. Heikki, I just noticed your cooler has a side vent. I would notch that 3" tall tray down 2 1/2" to the tray bottom where the cooler vent would be so it doesn't restrict air flow.
