Newbie - Va Beach - Interest in Camp-inn

Hi all. Been lurking for a while. Retired from the AF in 2005 & wife & I are reviving our old camping interest. We've gone from interest in Class B RV, to full-sized Travel Trailer, to Trailmanor, to Tab, and back to tents.

We have an 06 Subaru Forester Turbo and just made the last payment. We do not want to but another vehicle just to tow some monster camper -- so here we are at Teardrops. Would love to build one -- but too old, no workshop, gave all my tools to son, and basically too darn lazy.

Really like the looks of Camp-inn's 550 Ultra. It is exactly what we are looking for, has all the options & accessories we'd be interested in. My experience on other forums was to just throw the question out there, and helpful people would resond. Looking for anyone with a Camp-inn.

So here it is -- I put my fate and wallet in your hands...

1. What's your impression of its quality and construction?
2. Are you happy with it?
3. Knowing what you know now, would you still buy one, or get something else?
4. Is the manufacturer responsive to any problems?
5. What's the best and worst thing about t?

The folks at Camp Inn are members of this site and I have heard nothing but good things about their trailers. Everyone that has one seems to love them.
I'd say if you want to buy they are definitely worth looking at.

Seriously--you'll be happy with one, but have you seen a TD up close and personal? And have you seen a t@b?

It's a matter of how much comfort and storage room you expect to have, and the kind of camping you have in mind.

And while I think A LOT of us here with TDs wouldn't mind having a bigger trailer, it's the cuteness and uniqueness we each bring to our own custom-builds that make them so attractive to us. They're not off-the-shelf, and we live with the space limitations because of the cool factor.

You have to decide whether these limitations will be okay for you buying a TD, as opposed to getting something larger.

I've never heard a 'bad' opinion of a CampInn!!!

I have been to the factory and they are top of the line. You will not be disappointed. The quality and craftsmanship is unbelievable.

I think most teardroppers would consider CampInn to be the "best of the best" of the teardrop manufactures. I dont own one but I have seen a few and I think that the quality, fit and finish is outstanding.
Thats just my opinion of them.

We are very pleased with ours, and I would recommend them.

I have looked very closely to the Camp Inn that belongs to kajamelu4 on this board. They are beautifully built. When I started my homebuilt I had some rough measurements of the Camp Inn in the the beginnings , and had intentions of a Camp Inn Clone. The only thing it just did not turn out that way . They are great!

If I wasn't to building my own... A CampInn would be top of my list of custom built teardrops... This a small family run business that produces a superb product. I have never heard a complaint. Among enthusaists, this is the Lexus of teardrops. If you can afford the best... get ya one!

Cary Winch is the man to talk to if your interested in the Camp-Inn.

Cary is very courteous and will answer all your questions via email.
The Camp-Inn options are numerous and the quality has the respect of
the Teardrop community. This answer to Teardropping can be as turn key
as you want. So if you decide be sure to look at the options. For example
the screens for the doors seem like a good choice in my opinion. The off
road option is available and just so many choices you must plan before
you buy a Camp-Inn. This is the Cadillac way to go so know that and get
the options you want uP front cause then you will be happy. Again Cary
will answer your questions.

I own a Camp-Inn 450. Had it about a year now. Have owned other teardrops. Could not be more please with the quality of the Camp-Inn. I am more than happy with it. Would definately buy one again. Have not had any problems with the trailer, so I would not know about manufactor response to them. I do know every time I have called with a question about adding an accessory, Cary has taken lots of time to discuss it with me.

Best thing: The quality of construction.
Worst thing: Not getting to use the trailer enough.

I was lucky and purchased Camp-Inn's demo model. I don't envy anyone the wait to have one built. BUT it is worth the wait.

I bought my Camp-Inn in the spring of 04. I've now taken it over 6000 miles, not nearly enough in my book. It's been great. The only problem I've had with it is the hatch hinge leaked. BEFORE I knew that it leaked, Cary had sent me a kit to fix it. (How's that for service!) It was a simple fix, and its been great since. (And we have put it to the test on a couple of trips!) I would buy another one in a heartbeat if something happened to this one. And I love the upgrades they have made since I got mine. I have number 45 of the Camp-Inns, and I LOVE it!

First of all, welcome to the forum.
I bought my 550 Ultra 2 years ago and couldn't be happier. You won't be disappointed with a Camp-Inn. Quality from the ground up. I can't say enough about how much I LOVE mine. If I had to do it over again, I'd get another 550 Ultra but with more options. It tows like a dream, is very comfortable, and has plenty of room for all the things TD'ers carry.
Cary and Craig are great to work with, they have a super team building the trailers, and they are all very helpful in helping you decide what to order.
The hard part is the wait. They have taken steps to reduce the wait by building a brand new, larger facility in Necedah.
The best thing about it is it's functionality and construction. Top of the line. The worst thing for me.....waiting for it to be built! I'm glad I waited, it's worth it.

Thanks to all for the responses. The Camp-inn will definitely be the one.

... now it's a matter of getting my home commander-in-chief to approve spending the money. We will probably wait until the end of this year -- so we'll be out and on the trail next summer. Hope to see you all.
