Way back when I built my first TTT, I used an electric fuel pump and it worked just fine. It was one of the spring/plunger type pumps and the cool thing about it is that they cut themselfs off with normal head pressure... i.e. when you close the faucet, they turn off automatically even with power applied. To be safe, we just ran a tank of water thru the system with a cup of bleach in it before we actually drank the water.
The reason I did not use one in my teardrop is those suckers will pump the water, and so you end up using a lot of water. With the capacity of the tank in the TD I needed to be more conservative.
