NY Woodworking show looking for woodie teardrops

Postby kuffelcreek » Wed Jan 24, 2007 10:29 pm

I received this email and told them I would pass it on- Kevin Hauser

To whom it may concern:

I am responsible for the 2007 annual showcase of woodworking projects, classes, commercial sales, etc. We often have as many as 500 home crafted pieces on display at our show. These pieces range from extremely professional furniture to extremely intricate turnings and everything in between. We generally have some special piece on display to show what a good woodworker is capable of making. One year we had a Lake George guide boat. Last year we had an antique car (stationwagon) with all of the woodwork restored. I have become very fond of the concept of the teardrop trailer and I believe it would be a great display item.
Generally 5,000 to 6,000 people will attend our show over a two day period, so it is a great place to get a lot of recognition of whatever the product might be.
Would you be able to somehow provide a teardrop trailer (preferably all wood) for display at our show March 24 and 25 at Saratoga Springs, New York? Of course, you would be able to advertise and hand out materials which could result in sales of a completed trailer or lots of sets of plans.
The Northeastern Woodworkers Association is a non profit collection of people who hold meetings and attend classes to learn more about woodworking options. We are not in this for any individual's greedy purpose.
You can click on our website to learn more about our Showcase. (www.nwawoodworkingshow.org).
If you can help us locate someone who would be interested in displaying a teardrop, we would love to have one at our show.

Cordially,

Lawrence Zinn, Chairperson of Showcase 2007

Saratoga Springs, New York

I'm sure you shouldn't have any trouble finding someone up that way with a nice woody that would volunteer. I would but that's a long drive.
Maybe Steve would like a little exposure.

When I saw the location Steve was the first one I thought of.

I already talked to Larry! My 'Diner's gone, and the new one won't be ready. I tried to get Peg to bring her's, but timing's wrong!
It's a great opportunity! Too bad

 hmmmm....This thread caught my attention. Steve, do you think my "fort" would be something they'd be interested in? I'm not selling anything, it'd be just for show, and it is by no means anything like fine furniture. You've seen it...it is pretty basic woodworking covered with paint on the interior.
But it sounds like fun!

Hey Jon! I think it's exactly what they're looking for!
I'm sure that they would be honored to have you bring it! I know I would surely come over to see you!

Steve,

I think you should take your woodie over there. They'd love it.

I wish I had a woodie right about now...

Rick and Diane Sheerin are coming out in a couple of weeks for a building weekend. Remember ours with Frank? Great fun!! I think Jon would do a great job! His work is outstanding!
Maybe he could take a few CD's if he goes.

I emailed Larry. He said he had several inquiries and would get back to me.
In the meantime, if I do go, I was wondering if there was some sort of brochure or info I could hand out about T & TTTs or plans or .....?
