I've seen some of those before. They are really amazing!

I just wish I could write (legibly) much less draw.

So if you like this, I should introduce you to someone from my country of whom I'm truly proud - Banksy. While this guy is a highly political graffiti artist, which some may not like, he is also highly artistic, which overrules anyone's objections in my book. Here is Banksy's website with images you can download - please view the 'Outdoors' section for (I think) his greatest work.

Rats feature a lot in his work and he often uses stencils. Here are a few examples of his work:

Thank you, Andrew - that's brilliant! My future home town of Excelsior Springs, MO has its own small-town version of Banksy, whom I had the pleasure to meet in his studio. Needless to say, his identity is safe with me. IMHO on a crime scale of 1-10, grafitti ranks about a 0.5, and if it's good art, I'd call it public service.

Tell that to the home owner who has to paint his house or fence. Or the business owner who's building is covered in paint. He has to remove the graffiti because of the negative image that comes with it. It keeps people away from his business. It's just plain vandalism. We spend thousands and thousand every year at work to remove graffiti.

Scott, great images. Great post.

Andrew, I love Banksy. And since I hold politicians with equal contempt I applaud his choice of "Rats".

Bledsoe3, when I live in California I had to "touch up" the paint on my retaining wall at least once a month. it was frustrating. So Grafitti on private property I'm not a fan of. However, If a bunch of artists want to buy a section of brick or concrete wall more power to 'em.

This stuff isn't hard to clean up--- its CHALK. I've seen these before and they are all chalk pictures. They take hours to do and city gives them the place ---to draw tourists and dollars.
