What am I doing wrong??

Postby wok » Mon Jan 29, 2007 2:09 pm

I am starting the building of my mini-camper.. I don't think it qualifies as a TD, but close. I have started an album of the build so far. I'd love some feedback or suggestions as to any thing I might be doing wrong, or should do differently. Thanks!

This link should go to the first of my albums: http://clemson.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2117211&l=2c997&id=5112314

Welcome Wok; The only thing I can see wrong is your shop is to Clean, you need plywood shorts, and a lot more sawdust. I have checked out some of the pictures of shops on this site and you will need to create a much bigger mess, you can check my album if you need futher help.. 8) 8) Jim G

Looks good, Wok! I like how you used cheap primer for the underside. Saves money and who will see it? I used some Wal Mart Roofer's Pride roof patch ($7.83/gal.) on the bottom of mine. It's ugly black goop, but very thick & waterproof.

Sam I Am, where did you get your various windows? They look like the perfect size, especially the door one. I have been trying to find some like that, but so far all I have come up with is small bathroom windows at HomeDepot.

Im going to get the wood for my walls and roof today. While trying to calculate how much plywood I would need last night, I completely redesigned my exterior. Here is what I came up with. height is 5', with 6 inches hanging below floor line to hide trailer frame purely for looks. Top curves are 3 ft radius, bottom curves are lines with a slope of 3 and -3, with a slight curve to them. I decided to have it overhang the front and back this way because it still fit my 5x8 foot print, but gave me 2 more ft of space lengthwise, which will make my bed, toilet, and interior kitchen fit better.Image

Got a chance to start on the walls. I was going to assembled each one, and then attach, but the walls are 5.5 x 10, and my garage is tiny, so I will put up each wall skin (3/8 ply) in sections, and then frame with 2x2. Any suggestions on windows anyone? I bought storm windows from Lowes, but I think I might return them.Image
