Got The Materials For the Inside Ceiling

Postby sandman » Thu Feb 01, 2007 9:40 pm

I went to Home Depot tonight with the express purpose of getting some 1/4 Sandelply to use for my inside wall skins. While I was browsing around, I started to look for something I could use for my interior ceiling panels. I looked for 1/8" Melamine ply and they didn't have it nor do they carry it at any of the stores. I was looking on the door molding aisle and came across some very cool stuff for my ceiling panels. It is 1/8" FRP Panels that you would install in a bathroom so they are moisture resistant and won't warp or bow. They came in smooth white or textured white of which I chose the smooth. The backing on it looks just like tempered hardboard. I picked up four of the 4x8 panels and the molding to join the panels. It's very bendable and won't break so I have now have my ceiling. It was only $11.88 per panel and the PVC molding was only like $2.50 per strip. I got molding where you join the panels together which will be perfect to hide the brad nails and give a seamless installation. Can't wait to get to use this stuff.

Looks I am starting to think outside the box like a regular teardrop builder. 8)

You are moving right along. Wish I could find Birch 4x8 that cheap. :(

So you are going to skin it before you do the galley and cabinets???
