Difficult Decision

Postby Phil & Ningning » Sat Feb 03, 2007 2:42 am

I don't know why this was so hard to do, after the fact I realize that it was not a big deal to take care of.

A couple of weeks ago I notice that the left side galley wall had developed a rather nasty warp. It bowed a full 1/4 inch out of line with the rest of the trailer side, and would make a properly fitting hatch nearly impossible to build. Several people suggested interior braces, exterior braces, and the like. I decided the only right way to fix it was to section out the warp and replace it with better wood. I must tell you that making that cut after all the hard work I have done so far was not easy. It felt like I was tearing it apart. Or moving backward. I don't know. Just psychological, really. The actual repair was pretty simple.

I could not get a good picture of the warp, but did post some of the repair. Also, there are some new general progress pics.

All that tells me is you want to do it right. Nothing wrong with that.
