Isn"t interesting that the global warming that we are feeling this winter is also occuring on MARS. Those greenhouse gasses we exhale must really travel farther than we thought. As the sun goes thru its 1500 year warming and cooling cycle I guess all the planets are affected, not just "Ours". Keep Building campfires and running A/C. I don't think it matters much to any of us in this world what we do.

"Fossil fuels?" If the HC based fuels are from Dinosaurs how did we get them to die in the same place so we could pump their juices out of the ground? The closest thing to that today is a cemetary-- and I don't think us humans will make an eyedropper full someday, if they hit the right hole, if they miss they will go between Aunt Gert and Uncle Walt--dry well- no money here.
If the oil field is used up( no more Dino juice) how are some filling back up? May be a renewable reserve?

How did Greenland get it's name if it is covered with 200meters of ice? Maybe it was warmer than it is

now when the Vikings were farmers there.

If humans came from slime in the swamps, on up thru all of our "Links", who is that monkey in cage there? Fishing with worms may stop someones family tree.

Just some rambling thoughts I get while I'm driving all the time. You can get tired of the radio-even satelitte.

Some religions believe in reincarnation, and not in eating beef. If I didn't do good on earth, died and came back as a dog-and a human threw me a hot dog that I ate what would I be the next time thru??

Any other questions (problems) we can solve??

Time for my pills now.

Les:

Maybe you can point me to the URL or article where it is verified that global
warming is happening on Mars or any other planet? Your quote is the first I
have heard that is a fact? Seems that the word from most scientists now say
the warming here is due to man, and many would find that reasoning very
convincing, however if the sun is warming for some reason this would have
and effect. Again ... it would be good to read some authoritative article that
points to sun warming of other planets?

Anyone remember the "global cooling" scare of the 70's...wot happened to that one, where's the ice age, where's the lowering sea levels? I guess I missed it and the scientists said man was causing that one too...it was all the big hubbub when I was in college...you know, protests placard waving etc....I didn't buy into that one, and I don't buy into it now...probably an unpopular opinion, but it's mine....I sort of think it all depends on what way the funding pendulam is swinging for grants.... doug

If we use the bible as a history book and believe the stories in it, Didn't the Romans live and travel in Britany? That is where the grapes were grown to make wine.

During the middle ages around 1100ad. didn't the monks that lived in Britton grow grapes and make wine?

Only now is it getting warm enough to grow grapes in Britton again, I guess the middle ages cars were hard on the weather too.

In 1593 Galileo invented a thermometer with floating balls to tell temp.
In 1714 Fahrenheit invented the mercury thermometer.
In 1866 Thomas ALLBUTT invented the clinical thermometer.

Today the package of a Johnson & Johnson thermometer says that they are ALL personally tested for quality control.......Who is the person for that job?

Which leads to the speculation of how hot is hot? and how cold is cold? and we CAN'T control any of it yet outside. We can control inside so why worry about something we can't control?

Opps time for more pills..... Bye!

I am with you on this one Doug. I was graduating High School when the Global cooling threat was big. I just saw a TV program where they read an article from 1970 saying that we were in for a cooling of the earth. All this changed in 30+ years. We can thank Al Gore for this one. Thank God he is looking out for all of us. In 2040 we will all be buying sweaters again.

Yep. We were all gonna freeze and to prove it, Fayettville NC had a huge snow storm with only 40 degrees. 1972 or 73. More proof was that tropical ferns used to grow in the Northern reaches of te US.

Les---you don't need more pills---need summer and some sun. ;) While I am freezing Ira is having a heat wave.

I recall that too. It was a big deal that everything was going to cool down and it would be snowing in Fla. I guess that theory doesn't serve their purpose any more.

greenland got it's name just like Iceland did..the Vikings discovered both islands..greenland was a frozen wasteland, and Iceland was a thermal active wonderland..so, being the suave & deboner guys they were, they named them the reverse of what they were to keep others from Iceland and let the saps go to greenland.
the only thing they forgot to add was there is Gold in greenland.

Here is the like Les wants us to see from 2005. At least you can read it.
http://www.heartland.org/Article.cfm?artId=17977

I think the evidence from the scientific community this year is definitely
pointing to this planets global warming. With the massive amounts of Brazil
burning and more and more CO2 being let loose from all the new economy's
coming on line our planet must be getting warmer.

Funding for the Heartland Organization is from the likes of EXon Mobil and
other right wing groups. See the link below for more information.

Not exactly free of bias in my opinion, is the Heartland Organization.

I'm all for it. Seems to me that, if not for global warming, we would still be in the Ice Age. Perhaps things have been warming up around here for quite some time, in spite of what the earth's inhabitants are doing here, and not because of what we are up to.

I too remember the Global Cooling scare of the 70's. The Planet was running headlong into a new Ice age. Being a savy investor I bet everything of "Parka futures".

I think global warming deserves about as much attention as the aforementioned pending Ice age. Even a cursory glance at the Planets history shows a inclination towards cyclical weather patterns.

When Mt Pinatubo errupted in the Philippines in dumped more pollutants into the atmosphere in that erruption than humanbeings have collectively since we began to make out way upon the face of the planet.
