Finn, the space program has always been on the leading edge where acceptable personal behavior is concerned. Like with Presidents Past, the media didn't used to go into a sex induced frenzy at every incident. Heck they used to be happy to be invited to the parties.

Personal crisis shouldn't be news. It is gossip and should stay that way...

 Stupid people know better. ;) This woman is seriously in need of some help. There are some people who truly believe they can do what they feel.

Like many that are wearing diapers, she prolly thought she wouldn't be
held responsible for her outrageous actions. Look at most babies that wear pampers, we
don't hold them responsible for nota and they can cause many a mess. Do
you think the authorities are holding this woman to a higher standard?
After all she gave uP allot to fly for her country.

To quote someone you know close of the Finnish extraction:
"Novak mustve left her brains if any to begin with in space...
Diapers ....   Them Diapers mustve been real full to affect her brain cells.... "

I feel really bad for all involved in this. Psychological problems and the people they harm are not funny. I agee with Aunti M. This isn't news worthy.

Wouldnt ones Pride be so high to be able to Fly for your own Country..and the meaning of such of an achievement?

A small country such as Sweden has a man to fly into space the 1st time in Swedish History...and not to mention with the American crew and craft. That man is such a celebrity now and the different events and meetings are never ending ...

You would think this woman would feel the Pride of doing so as well.. and treated as a hero ... and having to do what she did in spite of it all..

Goods News - No not at all I agree.. But as the press goes they have no
brains either... here nor anywhere. And they speak of freedom of the Press...

Whatever happened to think before acting... its the same in any language.

Ohhh well... life goes on..

Your right ... this isn't news worthy BUT:
In todays news world of ratings ... the media are not going to give uP this
juicy tease ... not in your wildest dreams.

Highlights of the story that are just too much to put to bed and the media
should not cover as you would want it NOT to be News Worth are.
NASA space travelers
Love triangle
Diaper trip for many miles
Possible murder attempt
Very possible crazed divorced woman

Steve ... this story has legs and the media will pump it for all it is worth.
Do you really think this won't have legs?
For heavens sake NASA has had a darn news event about it already.

The real story here is:
When did NASA know there was a problem with there people? What was
done to help them get over this unfortunate situation if anything?
This
situation was KNOWN BY NASA WAY BEFORE THIS ALL WENT DOWN.
These people are on their reservation. Some responsibility should rest with
NASA~ These people are watched close and so something is amiss here
and NASA knows more than it is letting on.

Heikki,
It would be nice if people always thought before they act. Truth is people get in situations that don't always reflect good judgement. This woman maintained an obsessive something (I didn't ask her what so I won't say) for more than 9 hours. That is not reflective of a normal psycological state...

Perhaps we shouldn't make ordinary people who have extraordinary jobs heros to begin with. And maybe we should all tell our media we don't think gossip about anyone is news. Her arrest is news. The dirty details, with out trial, are gossip.

Gossip as news happens too often here and innocent people get hurt. How do you suppose her children will feel when their children study the space program and this news comes up in class.

Some things just need editing.

Steve, I don't think NASA should get involved in the sex lives of Astronaughts. They certainly should be involved if a break with reality is evident and they ignore it. That effects other Astronaughts.

I agree with Aunti M and Steve Cox...
The lady's actions were obviously the effects of jealous rage and it's very sad indeed for all involved... Damaged or ruined relationships and careers all because of what jealousy can cause. This story is the the type of crap that tabloids exploit.

Heikki, space shuttle crews are glorified cab drivers...the computer flies the craft, they strap in for the ride., now Apollo and Gemini crews were astronauts, not astronaughts like the modern day crews.

and yes, anyone can crack under pressure, even highly trained professionals.

Dean, Steve, Miriam & Heikki:

I think we are all on the same page here. The only difference IC in our
position is that some of you think that the news media shouldn't be
reporting this story as it is too dicey. This woman that was cause of this
story to unfold, should have known better. Was a special NASA
trained person that should have been more mature as a military Naval officer in
the professional program. She showed poor judgment to do what she
did and the media will work this story as it has legs.
Passion went a muck. Here jealousy came to the forefront.

My position is that I agree with you ... however lets get real about the media.
The media now a days is a ratings machine and this story has legs~
Just because someone has the misfortune to show they are human don't
mean that the media is going to give them a free pass especially if they
are NASA space travelers.
Heck people showing all sorts of passion are highlighted every day in the media.

Miriam ...
Don't you know that NASA does get into the heads of all their long term space traveling
astronauts and get involved in their sex lives? They do tests on them for
long term effects and do pry into their heads on all subjects that might
effect the missions. They try to weed out people that would have just such
problems as has unfolded here on the planet Earth.
What if this problem came to a head in space?

I still say the story is:
What and when did NASA know something was
amiss with this broken triangle of persons working for them.
And did they try to fix the situation before it took on this very public profile.

Well if thats the case I,ll just stick to drivin my lil car here on earth...and someday I,ll be an unfamous teardrop toter....I mean tower... its just much easier and more simple...than becoming a cab driver...

And I,ll keep my wife too...Now if that aint keepin it simple...unless she has a different idea...

I know the Media wont write about it... :D :D

I just want to know what kind of car she drives. She wears a diaper so she doesn't have to stop on the road. It's a 900 mile drive and she didn't need gas? I don't know about you guys but I take care of business while my gas guzzler is filling up. But if I ever find the need to travel long distances to assult someone, I will give that diaper idea some thought.
