Anna is dead

Postby Gambam » Thu Feb 08, 2007 4:26 pm

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. - Anna Nicole Smith, the former Playboy playmate whose bizarre life careened from marrying an octogenarian billionaire to the untimely death of her son, died Thursday after collapsing at a South Florida hotel, one of her lawyers said.

Smith, 39, collapsed and was unresponsive while staying at the Seminole Hard Rock Cafe Hotel and Casino, said the attorney, Ron Rale. She was rushed to a hospital.

"She checked in Monday at 8 p.m. as a guest. She was due to check out tomorrow," said Danielle Giordaano, a spokeswoman for the hotel.

Smith had been a tabloid staple even before she became Playboy's playmate of the year in 1993. Readers were fascinated by her bombshell good looks, her marriage to an elderly billionaire and subsequent court fight over his estate, her weight fluctuations, and last year, the sudden death of her 20-year-old son, Daniel Smith.

A former topless dancer, she made her name squeezing into Guess jeans. She resembled the late actress Marilyn Monroe, a similarity played up in her Guess magazine ads, billboards and department store displays.

In 1994, she married 89-year-old oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II, the head of oil-based Koch Industries, which is part of a family fortune worth at least $400 million.

He died in 1995, setting off a feud with her former stepson, E. Pierce Marshall, over whether she had a right to his estate.

A federal court in California awarded Smith $474 million in a complicated legal twist that began after she declared bankruptcy. That was later overturned.

But in May, the U.S. Supreme Court revived her case, ruling that she deserved another day in court in her battle with her former stepson.

The justices said only that federal courts in California could deal with her case despite a Texas state court ruling that Marshall was the sole heir to the estate.

Then, the stepson died June 20 at age 67. But the family said the court fight would continue.

Daniel Smith died Sept. 10 in his mother's hospital room in the Bahamas, just days after she gave birth to a daughter.

An American medical examiner hired by the family, Cyril Wecht, said he had methadone and two antidepressants in his system when he died. Low levels of the three drugs interacted to cause an accidental death, Wecht said.

Meanwhile, the paternity of her now 5-month-old daughter remained a matter of dispute.

She was born Vickie Lynn Hogan on Nov. 28, 1967, in Houston, one of six children of Donald Eugene and Virgie Hart Hogan.

She married Bill Smith in 1985, giving birth to Daniel before divorcing two years later.

from CNN- CNN) -- Reality TV star and former model Anna Nicole Smith was pronounced dead Thursday after being taken to a Florida hospital, a law enforcement source told CNN.

Smith, 39, collapsed at a south Florida hotel, according to news reports.

"I can confirm that she is deceased. It's as shocking to me as to you guys," Smith's attorney, Ronald Rale, told Reuters. "I don't know anything further. [Her lawyer and husband] Howard [K. Stern], obviously, is speechless and grieving."

TMZ.com had reported that Smith collapsed at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, and was rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood just after 2 p.m. ET.

According to reports, Smith was found unresponsive in her hotel room.

Smith was involved in a paternity suit regarding the parentage of her daughter, Danielynn, as well as other disputes, including some regarding a house she stayed at in the Bahamas around the time she gave birth.

Earlier this week, Smith was included in a class-action lawsuit against a company, TrimSpa, for which she had worked as a spokesperson. TrimSpa makes a product it claims leads to substantial weight loss. The lawsuit alleges the marketing of the product, TrimSpa X32, was false or misleading.

Smith's son, Daniel Wayne Smith, died at age 20 just days after the birth of Smith's daughter. Pathologist Cyril Wecht said a lethal dose of methadone and antidepressants caused cardiac dysrhythmia, leading to his death.

Looks like she checked out a day early.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand the subject. "Two of the best are gone?" I'm not sure I would agree with that unless you are being sarcastic. I'm not much of one to respect people into drugs, or people who are percieved as a gold digger. I have no respect for either one.

Of course, that is just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions....

Ok here it is! The ultra-lib-femme-free love response.

Y'all kiss my grits. This woman was warped by a society who won't let beautiful women have the same love and respect that the girl next door gets.

That poor old man was a consenting adult and so was she. She is a gold digger because she was from the wrong side of the tracks, young and beautiful. That is precisely the reason he wanted her. Maybe she got tired of being viewed as a one time just for the thrill and decided to get what she knew was honest.

Now how many of you men wouldn't have gladly traded places for a day. Would I trade places with her. Ya think!! I just wanna keep my brain.

Oh yeah I sure hope they do a real good, honest autopsy. :thinking.

Ya really think that is necessary? That woman ain't been straight in years. My guess, she fried her brain or her heart, maybe both. But it was certainly self induced.

Hummmmmmmmm. Somehow I don't think that is proven. It is very possible this woman was acting. It is possible her doctors gave her something. Maybe I will turn on the TV. ;) They will be sure to but her on trial.

I used to have a buxom aunt who said the same thing, just fat tissue... I said, yes, but it is such good feeling fat tissue... she got a laugh out of that one..

I've always thought being born with large hands was a disadvantage, as most things are relative.

wait a minute.... I just installed a 19" monitor (from a 15")... i've got some pictures I have to go back and look at again.../g/ (speaking of 'relative')

Oh come now, you don't really believe that do ya?
Everything she's been (talk show's ect.) on she's been either stoned or drunk.
My personal opinion, it ain't no great loss. But I don't have a lot of sympathy for the actors/actresses/rock stars and what not when they off themselves. Please don't blame it on the fame, that's bull. If ya can't take the heat get outta the fire.

I knew what the title meant right away and she certainly did have a set in her day. :applause:   8)

So someone dies [who's clearly messed up] and it's ok to joke about it?

I'll remember that next time [say a US solider] dies in battle.......maybe he/she shouldn't have been there in the 1st place. How does that sound to everyone?

....just trying to make a point here, and I'm sure a few will take offense if I was to joke about that or about 9-11.............
