Top 10 Feel Good Songs

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Postby Gaelen » Mon Jan 15, 2007 11:08 am

I only get 10?
Man, that's why I got an iPod...so that my playlists could be virtually unlimited in the smallest possible space. :R

'Silver Springs', 'Landslide,' 'The Chain,' and 'Rhiannon' by Fleetwood Mac
'Wild Things' and 'One of the Light' by Cris Williamson--in fact, the whole 'Changer and the Changed' album
'Because the Night' by 10,000 Maniacs
'Gravity' by Allison Krause and Union Station; heck, pretty much anything AKUS have ever recorded
'Wreck of the Day' by Anna Nalick
'Ain't no Sunshine' by Bill Withers
'I Can't Make you Love Me' by Bonnie Raitt
'Blue' by Joni Mitchell--the whole album...or 'Court and Spark' depending on my mood
'Fighter' by Christini Aguilera
'Wide Open Spaces' and 'Not Ready to Make Nice' by the Dixie Chicks
'Late for the Sky' and 'You Love the Thunder' by Jackson Browne
'Fire and Rain' and 'You've Got a Friend' by James Taylor
'Would You Go with Me' by Josh Turner
all the stuff on Kay Gardner's 'Ocean Moon' album that came from the 'Moon Circles' album which was never remixed to CD
'Other Side of the World' by KT Tunstall
'You can sleep while I drive,' 'Come to My Window' and 'I run for life' by Melissa Etheridge
'In the Air Tonight' by Phil Collins
'Crazy' by Patsy Cline...and the version by Willie Nelson, too
'Smooth' by Santana
anything off the 'Listening to the Adirondacks' album by Scott B. Adams
'Hummingbird' and 'Summer Breeze' by Seals and Crofts
'Hips don't Lie' by Shakira w/Wyclef Jean (what can I say, I like the beat!)pretty much anything at all by Tracy Chapman

and that's just the 'most recently played' part of the playlist...

WOW >>>>>> Everybody listed so many that I agree with , Coca Cola, Outlaw and Steve j.....

I like hard rock, classic rock, indie rock, 50s/60s oldies even some Micheal Buble...
I could not live without music so it's hard to pick favorites .... and it depends on my mood or situation -- pissed off, in a goofy/sexy/pissed mood ..... hard rock like 3 days grace, hinder or Buck cherry, or NIN if I'm getting sleepy on the road.... that's the only thing I can think of right now.... I'm listening to the Buzz 94.7 hard rock right now to get me thru the work day !!! I really like something I can sing with or dance with... music is such a big thing with me but I never can remember the song name/band name... I'd lose on Rock & Roll jeapordy !!!

I used to listen to an online station that was only 70s music ... and every other song I was saying " oh I love this song!"

I need satellite radio or an ipod...seriously !!!

Coca Cola - Linda ... bring that cd to Beavers Bend !!!

julie
Some things are way over my head !! ...but it keeps me looking UP!

Hmm?

Where do I start?

I like listening to pretty much anything, except rap, most oldies and most country(when it's live, I like any country).

My current favorites are:

Rammstein (they make it easier for me to speed while driving)
Pink Floyd (perennial favorite)
AC/DC
Seventies' Disco(Donna Summer, etc.)
ABBA
Boney M (Angib might recognize)
Smokie (Andrew again)

And most of what is already listed

This is kind of "old school", but it is the happiest song I can think of. Blue Skies sung by either Ella Fitzgerald or Doris Day....both did great renditions. it's a 10 on the happy meter. :D

When camping in wilderness areas, I would prefer no music except Carlos Nakai and the Native American flute....

Once I got  about songs that are guaranteed to lift my chin off the floor it became pretty clear real fast that restricting the list to just 10 is very difficult but what the heck here is 10 in no particular order.

1. Words of Love - Buddy Holly [also a great cover by the Beatles]
2. My Maria - B. W. Stevenson [also the better know cover by Brooks and Dunn]
3. Talking to Casey - Doc Watson
4. Long Cool Woman - The Hollies
5. I Won't Back Down - Tom Petty
6. Classical Gas - Mason Williams [and dozens of others]
7. Come Next Monday - K.T. Oslin
8. Some Days are Diamonds - John Denver
9. Dulcimer - Dave Mallett
10. I Take My Chances - Mary Chapin Carpenter

Restricting a feel good list to only 10 is really tough, there are a dozen more, probably a hundred more that could easily be added.
I have loaded all my cd's on to the hard drive and connected my computer to my stereo equip and play it thru speakers in the shop. Have play lists for every mood.

Regards, JG
