That darker vertical line on the right concerns me... Looks like it could be a crack.
When seasoning a dutch oven, oil will get down inside a crack and weep out of a crack, making a darker line.
That's either a crack, or where excess oil ran down the wall... What concerns me, is that it is darker than the other "run" lines to the left.
I've gotten "run" lines before from applying too much oil, but the only time one was much darker than other "runs" was right over a crack.
The seller, a member on the IDOS forum, swears it's in mint condition... He also states that he sanded off some rust prior to reseasoning it.
That oven is not in mint condition... The seasoning is pretty lame.
For the life of me, I don't know why he didn't at least do an additional round of seasoning to at least get it to look nice... Especially as much $$$ those little jewels can fetch.
Just my thoughts...

I guess I don't get it. Why is a 5" diameter piece of cookware worth $225.00? That's 10 times what I would guess!

Because they don't make them anymore. The Camp Chef 5in ovens that are still available are $12.

Hey Dean,

I'm as much of a CI freak as the next gal, but that's getting pretty ridiculous. As valuable as they are getting I'm going to have to update my will to specify who gets itl!! Of course mine is extra valuable because it's still unseasoned (no rust either). I do wish I had the original box for it though.

Pretty soon I'll be able to sell it and buy a car... ok, a cheap car.

Joanne,
I can't believe you just admitted that. :o
I'm gonna have to dock you some points on that one... :R
Season that thing up and put it to use!

I think for the price of this unit I'd let it pass.

Hey Dean,

I'm almost afraid to use it the way that they have become so valuable. You can bet I keep an eye on it any time I'm at a gathering. I'll probably restrict my cooking to camp chef 5s.

It went for $290.00.
I have a hunch that a few more IDOS folks will be putting theirs on Ebay because of what this one went for.
