halfdome, Danny wrote:Heikki, it looks like you are dealing with two differently sealed surfaces, one aluminum and the other finished wood. The moisture will be absorbed more on the wood side even though it is sealed. If it's bowed on the outside sightly (convex) the hinge and door latch just might pull it up along with weather striping. I would store them inside wrapped in a heavy blanket. Beautiful veneer,. Is that Honduran Mahogany? :D Danny

Danny you explained it lots better than I did.. yes thats the way its warped exactly... Danny here it is called Sable Mahogany... Im not sure of the real name...

Micro469 wrote:Heikki, How bad is it warped? Maybe you can just put some 2x4's under the edges and put some heavy weight on top and let it sit a couple of days in the house. It might warp back without taking it all apart...... ;)

I was looking at it also of doing it that way....Its not soooo bad but we can tell it is....But I think I will take the moulding off and then press it..Its been in the house for about a week now or over...

I could try the 2 x 4 .....and clamps..

Wonder what a low heated Sauna would do if clamped in between a couple of 2 x 4s and tightening clamps everyday till sgtraight?

But then the cooling could cause somthing else...

Hummm... :scratchthinking: That might be an idea. Can ya try it on a scrap piece of wood? Then put it in a low humidity room in the house to see what happens???

Heikki,

I would not use the Sauna ieven if it was a dry heat becuase you want to slowly remove moister from the wood and sometimes with dry heat you can remove too much possibly causing the veneer to crack or split even if it is finished.

If it is in the house the humidity is more constant and usually not too dry.

Thats what my Uncle said too... So I think I,ll just take the moulding off and clamp it in between 2 boards.. in 2 different areas of the door...

As Danny also mentioned it could draw back together when put back in place... I,ll find out and let you all know... By May anyhow.. I,ll need the door on it by then for sure..
