There are plenty of sources out there for this data - just Google "CO2 concentration." But my problem with it are the methodology used to get it and the conclusions drawn from it. Even so, to clean it up means a lot more than cleaning up our act - China, Korea, eastern Europe, to name but a few, need to clean up theirs.

But of course, just MENTION nuclear power as an alternative to fossile fuel generated power...

Uh Joseph it is my saying all this that got 5 pages of critizing with no real information forth coming until today.

All known fuels have their own set of consequences and disposal issues. We can go to a nuclear world....Is that what you really want? Who then will control the means of distribution? Who will police it's use? Will everyone be allowed energy independance???

   Now I need a pill. :?

Here is a map of CO2 emissions per person:

So it's the USA, Australia and Norway that stand out as the highest polluters per person. China is up there with the US as biggest polluter in total, because it has around four times the US population.

Some interesting explanations of the CO2 emissions by country are in the original article.

Well, who's doing the policing now? And I certainly don't see energy independence as a bad thing in and of itself.

One thing missing is a lack of ideas - well, here's one. Russia, India and China are already nuclear powers. They can form a co-op, build nuclear power plants (I believe the Indians are best of the lot at this) and provide power for all the Eurasian continent, boosting their economies at the same time.

Or, for a clean source of power, China can take all the slaves they have making stuff for WalMart and HF Tools and put them on stationary bikes attached to generators. They could probably provide power to the entire world!

:applause:  Good information...My number one complaint in my town is the complete lack of public transport.. Our power comes from coal...To change that requires a National comitment. The US is huge and I still wonder if you gave England the same circumstances and size if it would not be where it is. Sweden also. Norway suprises me. 25 years ago they used an enormous amount of hydor power. Perhaps that was regional to the Western coast and before the oil fields.

I think I am credited with a bigger output than my real share.
I wonder if this report took into account animal breathing also. It really is't a joke, they really do that.

We have cars because we can't jump on a train like you can. And our government doesn't tax them out of existance, yet. We do need to find better ways and invest our collective moneys in something other than research. I would love to have a car that got better mileage than the 41 mpg I get.. but I don't want to have all the ground pollution that comes from batteries and over farming.

China an Russia co-opting to control who gets energy at what price doesn't sound like energy independance for all.

Get my point...We just need to work on our own stuff more.

I like wind power but (absolute no joke or pun intended) it is a problem too.

I get it. Get mine - we can't solve the problem by ourselves.

Try selling wind power to Ted Kennedy and John Kerry. "Not in OUR back yard! Yer not gonna spoil OUR view!"

The insane thing about wind power is one set of environmentalists actually got wind generators built in Californa and another set got them shut down because migrating birds were getting killed in the blades! Go figure...

Opening statement - "Many people are aware that the USA is the world's largest producer of Carbon Dioxide. Which of course, by leaving out the "per capita" makes the statement a lie, and just because you can dig out the truth buried further down in the article doesn't mitigate it.

So I guess if we upped our population by a factor of ten, the problem would go away since we wouldn't be producing so much per capita?
