I call my buddy Jim as soon as the race slid to an end and his comment was the quote of the week " Just the way I like my Jack Daniels bottoms up "

Blaniacs

Postby Lesbest » Mon Feb 19, 2007 8:30 pm

Dave Blaney was sent to the garage for speeding thru the pit area while avoiding the wreck. (Nobody else has done that before have they). He was HOT and would not talk to anyone after the race. Check his fan club at QuickestLap.com. Afriend of mine is the announcer at Sharon Speedway and I try to pick up any news I can. The Blaney family has raced there for 40 years I bet, built the old stands years ago (Blaney Lumber), and bought the track a few years ago and started to update it, new stands, boxes, etc. Held a WoO show the last 4 years, and they have other NASCAR drivers show up for special shows to help raise money for Petty's ______________ Junction. Really nice family all told. His Dad is still a top driver in E-Mods and his brother is still driving Sprints.

Lets face it, the finish to the greatest racing event of the year was a complete charlie foxtrot. I am sure that is could have been more poorly officiated, but I am not sure how. France and the boys had better watch out, they wanted to take NASCAR mainstream and that was a great thing. But now they have got lots of people watching and if they have many more nights like last night, all the work to get people watching will have been for nothing.

The wife saw that on there this morning. I've know them for years myself, we raced with them at Lernerville and Sharon for years. The did a real nice job fixing up the track. I was there for 3 of those 4 years when the NASCAR drivers were there. Even saw Kyle Petty drive a sprint car which by the way he emphatically said no one will ever see again!!! lol
It just blew me away when I heard why they sent him to the garage. I can't count the number of times I've seen someone do the same thing. There was no excuse for something like that. Funny how nothing was said to Johnson after he pushed an ill handling car to the point of crashing and taking out several other cars. Personally I thought Dave did a good job of handling it and not wrecking himself or anyone else until his re-entry and that would have been perfect if it weren't for the blown tire.

I don't think Lou is driving anymore tho, he hasn't been in too good of shape since his wreck. I think he tried a few times but now he pretty much just drives the tractor.

Carl Edwards did the same thing last year, but wasn't penalized because there was no rule. Nascar didn't like that so made a rule for this year...
Going in the pit lane to miss an accident is OK, but now they say you have to reduce your speed on pit lane. I don't think Nascar or Dave for that matter, realized his right front was down... That's why he lost control when he re-entered the track. When he came back in, Nascar decided to hold him five laps, but then changed their mind and parked him... giving him a 34th place finish. I'm wondering how many drivers Nascar is gonna piss off, before the drivers take matters into their own hands and try to form a union again.

Is there gonna be a breakup in NASCAR? Kinda like USAC and Indy Car? If enough people with enough money get mad enough, it is a possibility.

I don't think so...there is so much money floating around NASCAR nowadays that not many are gonna leave it to start up something different...the money situation alone make it a far differrent situation than when CART was formed...TV money...sponsor money and fan base make forming another league very unlikely...I think CART and the IRL would like to remerge because of lack of monies and fan support for both leagues...BIG MONEY TALKS LOUDLY..........

Yeah, I doubt it too, too much money to be made for now. The whole NASCAR machine is so strong that if anyone were to splinter off, they'd fizzle out quicker than they started. It's fun to speculate and/or plant a bug in somebody's ear.

CART, I couldn't remember the name for some reason USAC came to mind but they are migets and sprints. I don't remember the specifics but Tony George played a big part in that split.
