MK, the sites are 18 and 16 bucks a night, depending on whether they are considered premium sites or not...there is not much difference except the premium sites are on the water front...the regular sites are 20feet further away, across the one lane road thru the park. All sites have full electric and water hookups with a minimum 55'long paved pad, along with a graveled tent pad or a deck...ReserveAmerica, requires you to register(free) and charges a 3dollar service charge for making the reservation...the first nights fee is required as a deposit...if you use the 877-226-7652 number, which is a direct La SP reservation line, you can save the 3 bucks...if you cancel your reservation 10(or 14?) days in advance, they will keep 10 bucks as a service charge...the 3 sites, I have reserved cost me $54(3x $18 ), with the remainder due when checking in...the CG is HEAVILY wooded and the sites are large...BEAUTIFUL PARK, I sure hope you can make it up as it is gonaa be FUNNNNNNNN.....

HEY EVERYONE...we are gonna do much as last year with awards given for Peoples Choice, Furthest Traveled, and an award for the Halloween Decorating/Pumpkin Carving contest...I won't be able to get the same deal on T's that we had last year and it appears that they will cost 15bucks for the first one and possible less for additional T's BUT I am still working on that and have no true idea at present...hopefully, the 15 bucks will include a T, a flag and a dash plaque...these monies will more than likely haveta be collected in advance this time around...as that gets ironed out, I will post further onit....

P.S. talked to Ranger Tom today and they are pumped about our return

Steve,

Just grab a spot, that's what we did. I can't plan that far in advance, hell, I can't plan anything for next month yet. Figure if worse comes to worse, I can canx the reservation and someone else can get the spot.

Steve,

Maybe you could make your reservation and then bribe the park rangers to change your reservation to ....lets say #38 , of course who is ever in #38 might get a little upset but you can always blame the reservation system   8)

Been gettin' a bunch of e-mails from Reserve America lately, somethin' about them merging/combining/absorbing(?) some other organization. May have something to do with why we're unable to get thru. Think they said something about a name change?? I'll try to call the SP folks in Baton Rouge tomorrow & reserve a site, somewhere 'tween 37-41  .

...just keep in mind that ALL the sites are good ones and there is only a one-way, one-lane road road thru the camping area, so even though you may not be located in the middle of all the yahooing going on, you will still be in the same "loop" as everone else......

I haven't had a confirmation from ReserveAmerica, but they have charged my credit card and the site I chose doesn't show as available, so I guess most of their reservation mechanics are in place. I'll probably give it another couple of days before I start calling to confirm.

By the way, there are very few bad camping sites, so you can't really go wrong with choosing one. I chose to go back to the site I was in last year because I am a creature of habit. All I have to worry about is Joe not running out of stories and keeping me up all night! Thanks alot MJ! Are they bringing their Hilton again, have they built a trailer, or is Joe gonna sleep in this motorcycle trailer?
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.
