Hoot systems and pressure switch.

Does anyone know anything about Hoot aerobic septic systems. There is one installed on our house and we've few problems with it (compared to my neighbors).

It is required to be inspected quarterly by the county. The guy who had been doing it decided to get out of the buisness so I had to get a contract with a new company. After their second inspection they are saying that I need $725 in repairs or they will report me to the county and terminate my contract.

They have me over a barrel so I'll probably have to pay their extortion letter.

This is what I have to do....
Pump and clean out the tank $300....Pretty much the going rate
Replace air diffusers $150................That is pretty high for a couple of air stones but still reasonable
Repair aeratror alarm $275..............That is all out highway robbery. I told then that the pressure switch went out and I jumped it so that it can be replaced next time the came around. I looked on Digikey and that switch is only $14.

Does anyone know where I can get parts for this system? It seems like they are "upselling" me for unnecessary repairs.

I have a septic system, don't know what brand it is if any. But just reading your story I would have the repairs done by another company if possible. I don't think it's ethical to do the inspection and then hold you hostage for the repair. Tell them you will get the required work done and call them back to reinspect. Maybe they will come to their senses if they see you have alternatives. My pumping company gives me a certification for the County as a no charge with the pumping fee.

You can always rebel and refuse to play their game and maybe get a band of teardroppers to camp out in your front yard as a "Fascism Barrier". Short of that you'll have to comply.

Thanks John I was not aware of that development. It looks like that was passed in 2005. I haven't looked into it in several years.

I will see if my neighbors are interested in doing this. Maybe we can pool our money to cover the expenses for an instructor to come out here. I still haven't read the whole thing but it looks promising.

The next hurdle would be getting parts.
