Hello From New York

Postby boomer » Wed Feb 21, 2007 8:01 pm

Hello to everyone on this site. This is my first time here as I have just found this site today. I have been interested in Tear Drop trailers for a couple of years now, but I never knew that much about them. I was looking for some info on a pop-up trailer recently and I saw a TD. I thought that this would be the way to go. I never realized that there were web sites dedicated to them. I am probably going to either build one or possibly buy one in the next few months. The thought of traveling cross country with one sounds like the ultimate trip. The pop-up idea is in the trash. I am looking foward to talking with some of you and picking your brains for advice. Thanks, Boomer.

Welcome to the playground boomer. Have a look at the Design Library and the Generic Benroy plans for a good place to start. The Hall of Fame is another great resource since it has lots of build journals.

Enjoy

Hi Steve. I am located in South Glens Falls. I have not had alot of time to search this whole site ( work always seems to get in the way ) but what I have seen, it seems like a nice group of people. I am interested in buying one of the Yoter Toter Tear Drops but I want to find out more about them. I did see some info somewhere on here the other night and maybe I will look again later. That trip that is planned for Fish Creek sounds like fun. If I have a TD by then, maybe my wife and I will think about coming. Thanks for responding to my post and I look foward to talking with you and other people on here, Boomer ( Ed )

You are from Brooklyn

Dear Ira,

Since you are from Brooklyn, is building our tear a form of suicide?
Regards,

Hello Steve, How are things in Broadalbin tonight? I was working out there the other night. ( the power co.) My wife and were out there tonight. We went to the Raindancer for dinner. We would like to make plans for the trip to Fish Creek in June if we have a teardrop by then. We might go to Ohio the end of March and look at the Yoder Toters. We'll see what happens. Talk to you soon, Boomer.

welcome from another NYer. I'm down in Gilbertsville (between Albany and Binhampton). Whether you have a TD by June or not, make a point of going up to FIsh Creek Pond anyhow. You'll be inspired by the TDs there and anyone is welcome TD or not. BTW, if you get a chance to stop by Steve Frederick's make a point of it. He is the recognized expert in TD construction and builds the most beautiful TD "works of art" around. It would be well worth stopping and chatting with him. Hope to meet up with you at a gathering some time. Brickz

Brickz, did you ever hear of a camping spot called the Devil's Punch Bowl near Binghampton? It's near the college--Harper? (Don't remember.)

I don't think you can "get" a TD in in there, but I camped at the spot in the 70s with a buddy who went to college there, and the place was awesome. It's like a gorge with several waterfalls around you emptying in the "bowl."

You park by the railroad tracks and walk down to it, and it's not a commercial campsite. (Wasn't back then anyway.)
Here we go again!

NY spot

Postby brickz » Mon Mar 12, 2007 7:59 am

hey Ira, you sure get around. We're a long way from FL. Was typing fast last night and didn't realize till after I posted that I totally butchered Binghamton. I'll have to check out the site. Just moved here recently so still exploring places. Don't know about most folks but I hardly ever stay in places close to home. Not sure why, just seems we want to go somewhere else. We can at least do a day trip there, we'll see. Thanks for the tip. Brickz

I followed YOUR spelling because I wasn't sure either!!!

Seriously, you have GOT to see this place, even if it's just for an afternoon walk.

Hopefully, it's not like Florida--where they would build condos all around it.
