Well, to make a short story long.

In 1975, I bought my Grandfathers 1964 Chevelle Malibu SS. Paid $250 for it while I was in college. After one year and 20,000 miles it's rate of decline greatly increased and so I sold it for $275.

But, I think the best is yet to come. I'm rebuilding a 1976 Chev Short-box Stepside. I bought an '81 C20 pick-up with a 454 and a TH 400 with dual exhaust and A/C, and paid $700 for the '81 with a bad cam (which was going to be changed anyway).
I am going to transplant the motor, tranny, cab, and exhaust. Then drop it 2-3" and paint it a woodgrain and red.
Then I think this will be my most favorite ride.

Second growth spurt is kicking in,

...don't laugh but my folks '64 Rambler Classic 880...AM/FM radio, A/C, lotssa chrome, a 283 V8 w/500cfm Holley 2bbl, and the front seats folded down to make a queen sized bed...I truly loved that car...even after I rolled it during my senior year of high school....

Funny after that several of his "friends" wanted to borrow his funny little Rambler !

only because it was my first car, not because it was a good car. Underpowered, but had a real sun roof, swing out lighted signal direction arms, leather upholstery..... just would be cute now... almost as cute as a Henry J..

I talked my Dad into buying this for me when I was 14... and after I graduated H.S. we sold it so I could have a more reliable car for collage.... a stupid 85 Nissan Pulsar....Ohhhh,

It sold for $2100... I... um... it is very distressing... I could never afford to replace it now....

In 1987 I was 15, my friend was selling his 1975 Mustang II v8 auto He just had the engine rebuilt it was putting out about 260 hp and he only wanted $900. It needed some body work, paint, headliner and carpet. I did all the work by my self (I even had a broken collar bone during most of the repairs). It had air conditioning and the original maroon cloth interior had faded into a nice purple color we called the car Pimpmo. In 1989 I won 2nd place at a 25th anniversary mustang show at Sea World. About 2 months later some ahole ran into it while it was parked at the HEB where I worked, caused $3500.00 in damage mostly grill, bumper, headlight surround. The insurance co paid me for the damages and I drove it for two months looking for parts but I decided to sell it. I sold it in about an hour for $1350.00 which was about how much I had into it. My next car was a 1985 Pontiac Grand Am.

1983 Datsun 280ZX I walked into the dealership and said, "I want a car like that, only in blue", the salesman almost tripped over his feet to write that one up. I was 21 and such a dummy.... sold it in 1989 when we started planning a family. Now, I want my car back!

(1) I had a 57 chevy at 16 bought for 100 dollars a real rust bucket sold for 50 bucks. Guy I sold it to his sister shot it up with a shot gun. (2) A 71 TR6 brand new could not wait to get rid of it. Was broken more days than well. (3) 1968 corvette leaked rain everywhere had cracks everywhere and rode like a sitting on a brick being drug down the road. I would still take any one back.

Gosh I want all mine back. I had a 60's (don't remember the date) beautiful RED caprice. The most beautiful car in the world and the dummy stripped the gears.

Then there was the chevyII wagon. And the 1972 Galaxy 500. Sold it to a young friend who really needed a cheap car.

Each in their own way taught me to be patient and get my hands dirty, but I would do it again.

1967 Buick Grand Sport stage 2 400 sleeper, 4:10grs, turbo 400 with column shift, bench seat, plain wheels and small hubcaps, chanpaign in color. Tottatled due to a man passing me in a no passing zone.

1968 Camaro SS 396, 375hp, 4spd 4:11 grs. Red with Rallye stripes and white vynl top. A weee bit faster than the Buick. Sold it back to a Chev d
ealer/drag racer who wanted it reaaaaaal bad.

1968 Camaro SS 350 that I rebuilt from ground up. 350 bored 30, all factory hp guts, 2.02 valves, offenhauser dual quad manifold hand polished, 2 holley 600 vacuum secondaries, progressive linkage, crane cam, 11 to 1 comp, 4spd, 3:73grs, candy apple red with gold metalflake shadow stripe on sides,new front fenders, quater panels, cowl hood (functioinal) and new stock interior. Nice weather driver, show car.

My first car, a 1963 Rambler Classic 660; as previously noted....yes; the ultimate 'Drive-in' car; absolutely!! Here's the deal it was given to me on a bet with my dad...see; it had a bad ring gear (torque tube driveshaft) ; the bet was if I could fix it ...it was mine...I won!! Not bad for a 12yr old; on my 16th birthday I got the title..the ring gear lasted thru that years 'Drive-in" season then gave out...so I bought a 1968 Ply Roadrunner convertible W/ 440 6-pack 4-spd...for a whopping $150....so the guy who sold it to my was crazy? It blew the trans on the way home....no real scatter shield; lucky I still have my leggs!! Picked up a '65 Valiant the next day for $50 and that took me all through colledge!!
Surprisingly out of these three cars ...the one I'd really love to have back is the Valiant!! I realize the RoadRunner would be worth a bunch...but I'd be afraid to drive it!!

My uncle had a 67 convertible vette. bought it with 32 $100 bills right out of the military before joining Michigan State Police. I remeber riding in that car when I was a kid. He got married had kids car had to go. Last year he turned 60, his son, my cousin wanted to find him one that he could drive around in for a day. He walked by a house that had a very similar car, he pestered the guy for weeks to get him on board with his plan. He told the guy the story, and the new owner heard that his car had been owned previously by a trooper. To make a long story short, it turned out the car was his old vette and the guy let him drive it around. The story made the Local newspaper.

What a great gift from a son to his old man.

This is the one I wish I still had. 1956 Meteor Victoria [Canadian Ford] It was my second car and my all time favorite even tho it was the most unreliable car I have ever owned, it was probably the most beautiful. I owned this thing so long ago I can't even find a color picture of it.

Torquoise and white with matching interior. 312 cu. in. Y-block, 4 barrel. Dual exhaust with Walker blue bottles. Adequate power to collect a whole whack of tickets!

Altho there always seemed to be something wrong, it was very easy to fix yourself, unlike the stuff we drive today. Oh how I wish I had the damned thing back.
