Your car can tattle on you

Postby Lesbest » Thu Mar 01, 2007 9:02 pm

Did you know that all cars built from 2006 on can tattle on you? There are 7 states that have emission testing. To get your yearly tag you have to get your tailpipe checked. Pass you get your tags, fail have to get fixed, up to a preset amount for a waiver and get your tags. You wait in line, takes time, bla, bla, bla. Or you can have the transponder turned on and as you drive the pick-up units ask if everything is ok? All the cars that are capable (2006) and newer respond if they are sick. (Check engine light is on). The code is transmitted to the reciever, along with the data stream at the moment which is everything that is happening, what gear, coolant temp, what speed, air temp, gas level,A/C on,etc. Along with V.I.N. and owner name--it's uploaded to a satalite, downlinked to the nearest reporting facility, and a summons is typed out and mailed to your house telling you the CE light was on at this intersection, on this day, at this time, and you have 30 days to get it fixed. During this time if you didn't fix it yet it is still saying its sick when asked, while you drive. After a second 30 day period you get a second summons. You don't get a third one- the sherriff comes to the house and takes your plates off. NOW you will get it fixed. Tow bill to shop (no plates), fine to sherriff (to get plates back) and the bill to the shop for the repair.
I'll drive fast to beat it? the recievers can read 4 lanes of traffic, bumper to bumper at 100 mph. That is just the emission side, the black box side is another issue, seat belt on? Foot on gas or brake? steering wheel straight or swerved off road? what gear? Hmmmmm.......

I've heard stories about the system on the Cadillacs....... And on cell phones that can track you... In my old business district, they put up cameras to spot people coming out of the bars....
It's funny, the older I get, the more insanity I see going on around me.....

It used to be high end cars now it is all cars. The system is turned on at the time of purchase. The module has no wiring diagram and it is enclosed in the structure of the car. If it fails you have to stand in line every year. To remove it you need a plasma cutter.

The cell phones--the phone makers want to sell in the US, and they work with the Gov't.-have the capability to transmit any conversation. The company software allows the microphone to be turned on--even if the phone is off, and the conservation within a 20-30 foot from phone to the listener. The phone shows no indication this is happening. To defeat this feature you must remove the battery. That is how the FEDS caught the Giancola family, by listening to the cell phones--and its not wire taping.
Like bugging the room. Also the phone has a GPS so the company knows what towers its using. Otherwise you would never hear---the subscriber is not in the area. That GPS is always on, if you want to have GPS you pay for that side of it to be turned on.

Does your car have ONstar? That can be turned on and listen to your remarks, and during a chase the car can be turned off. The police can also purchase a "ray-gun" that kills the electronics of the car and shuts it down.
Make you think huh?

It might be on all cars, but I am doubting that. I know it's not on my 2006 Nissan Frontier, because I asked at the dealership. I didn't check on the Nissan cars, just the trucks.

One time we went to a dealership to look at this VW GTi. We questioned the salesman about the low miles and he made up some story. My buddy bought one somewhere else a month later.

We were in the parts dept talking to the guys and mentioned the used car they had on the lot. The manager said that it was his car and he put it on the lot to see what kind of response it would get. We asked him about the mileage and he said to add 50K to it. The spedo stopped working so he had to replace it.

Lesson learned, ask the parts guys or mechanics. They aren't trying to sell you something. They get paid the same either way.

Hey, come live where I do! The government wants to introduce a road pricing system where you pay to use a road when it's crowded, to try to reduce traffic congestion without building more roads (as we don't have the land to do that).

The plan is that all cars will be fitted with GPS transponders so that the road pricing satellite system will be able to see where every vehicle is all the time. You can guess the outcry over that! It doesn't worry me in the slightest, but then I don't worry easily - my theory is that at least half the population plans to have, or is having, an extra-marital affair and that's why they're so sensitive about the gub'mint knowing where they are.

Incidentally, we do already have successful road pricing schemes, notably in central London where there's a flat $15 a day charge to drive your car. But that's a scheme where you make a payment or get caught by CCTV cameras. It works so well that loads of other places are planning to copy it. The revenue can only be spent on improving public transport - which of course already got better because there's less traffic.

Ya, Right!!! and I have a bridge in Brooklyn I will sell you. As a test of how true this story is, try an experiment. Tell some one a story and have them tell someone else the same story. Make sure it goes through at least 10 people before it gets back to you and see how it has changed. Now their is a module on the car that will tell on you, but only in an accident. It is the SRS (supplemental restraint module) that controls the air bags and seat belt tensioners. It records info on what was happening when the crash occurred. It can be read be your insurance company. Their is no box in the superstructure of you can that reports to a satellite. Their are also phone systems on lots of cars that call the factory if a running problem exists and in some cases they can fix it on the spot. IE GM's On-Star.
