There are a number of new options for parents of teen drivers, now, too. You can get "black box" products that allow you to download things from your car like, how fast it was driven, g-forces in cornering, hard braking, and other signs of irresponsible drving by your teen. Some integrate GPS, so dad can go to son on Saturday morning and say, "You sure took that big curve on Orchard Hill Road awfully fast -- the computer says you were doing 82 mph, and the lateral g-force was .87." Followed by, "Son, I'll be taking those car keys for a while."

BTW, the government did a research project using black boxes in 1,200,000 new cars, and everytime one of those cars was involved in a fatal accident, they recovered the last ten seconds of sound in the car. In most states, the most common last words before the fatal crash were, "Oh Sh-t", but here in Texas, they were, "Hold my beer and watch this".
