You know that they have to pimp Montoya as much as they can they are trying to pull in F1 fans. David Beckham got a contract in LA, how long till Michael Schumachaer comes to NASCAR. If he does, NASCAR can pull in the really big bucks. Those F1 fans are just as rabid as NASCAR fans but have a lot more money.

I have to disagree. This weekends race was a Busch race, not a Nextel Cup race.

I feel like there are to may Cup drivers running in the Busch series full time or 75% of the time. The Busch series & Truck series are the minor leagues for the Cup series. That is were there is a fine line. I feel the guys in the Cup series less the 3 years should be able to run the Busch/Truck series, after that they need to drive Cup only. There are a lot of Busch/Truck driver that are bumped from their rides because the Dale Jr's & Mark Martin's take them on the "big" race weekends. They are taking away very important seat time from guys that need it. There are only 43 starting position in a Busch race, some weekends there are 15-20 Cup guys taking these positions. It is not fair the the guy struggling to keep his ride.

Also the name NASCAR is thrown around & not understood. NASCAR is National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. NASCAR is anything from your local Friday/Saturday races to Late Models to the Nextel Cup. There are lots of NASCAR sanctioned track & races run every weekend around the US during the summer.

I just finished watching Talledega Nights.
It was hilarious... But it also hit the nail on the head for me as far as "state" of Nascar goes. (I'm talking about the big three... Cup, Busch & Trucks, not the countless Short tracks across this land that pay Nascar big bucks to be Nascar sanctioned)
I'd like to see at least one race this year, where I can't question a call or non call... a race that doesn't turn into a caution fest at the end, even a race where a black flag is used to send a would be winner to the back of the pack for taking out the leader would be nice. That's what happens all the time at local short tracks across this land on Saturday night. I even saw Nascar (Cup) do that once at Sears Point... Ricky Rudd took out Davey Allison on the last turn of the last lap. Rudd was black flagged and Allison was handed the win. (Thinking it mighta been '90 or '91... somewhere around that time)
Nascar got the call right that day, why haven't they made a call like that since then... Last year's Talledega race where Vickers took out Little E and Johnson was a slam dunk.
Some of the penalties they do issue, leaves the fans to trust Nascar... Like the speeding penalties on pit road. How do we know a certain driver was speeding???... 'Cause Nascar says so, that's why. I'd like to see them make that one more transparent, with all the technology it would be pretty easy to have a dedicated screen display. I wonder if the big buck teams are allowed to use their own speed guns on their own drivers to keep Nascar honest on that one??? I highly doubt it.
I sit and listen to the announcers explain why Nascar made the right call on infractions and I'm led to believe the announcers are kissing up...
I was pretty excited this year about the COT coming online, but that one is now becoming a whacked out situation. One car, one template... Oh, I guess the motors make 'em different.
It's been the one sport in my life that my passion has grown stronger for with each and every passing year, since the age of 5... But now, I'm begining to wonder if I blew by the crossroads a ways back???
I just wish Nascar was like it was back in the 70's and 80's... They've taken my beloved sport and turned it into a joke.
Again, I don't mean to bum out the diehard fans here... but this one diehard is pretty disenchanted with it all at this point and it really hurts.

I've thought that NASCAR has been rigged for years now. I never have really liked it, give me Indy anyday.

Dean,
Haven't watched NASCAR since the Daytona fiasco but you know, I think there's something smelly in Helton's corner. Okay, let's end all the garbage, make a rules change: 6:00 x 16 tires (whitewalls optional) AMC Gremlin bodies, sprint car wings and no less than 900 horsepower!!! Then throw in a referee on each turn and give them 30 days to come up with a winner after the conclusion of each race.
Yep, they (NASCAR) does stack the odds from time to time, you can play that tune every time you watch a Mike Helton Sunday WWE crash fest. Me, I'm goin' back to racing valve covers............

I followed NASCAR for years. Like cam5e, I feel that the rules of the game changed when they took the SC out NAAR. That allowed Money to control the game and now all the rules have changed in the name of greed. I really liked Stock Car racing, but really don't care for Highly Modified Cars That Don't Even Resemble Stock Cars known as HMCTDERSC. They don't get any of my dollars. I won't even wear one of their ball caps. I'd rather go to local go kart race.

One more thing that bugged me about Sunday's Busch race.

Does NASCAR not know what a local yellow is?

Almost every one of a cautions the had at the end of the race could have been local cautions and we would not of had the problem with Montoya. All it did was bunch the cars up & create more wrecks. Montya clearly had the best car, he did not need the "help".

I have not seen or heard anything on this.
When he spun out the other car, cars behind him stayed on the track and were just about to pass. Montoya went through the dirt and came out in front. My question is:
I thought you could not advance your position by going through the dirt?
Any thoughts?
