Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Postby IndyTom » Tue Mar 06, 2007 11:21 am

Oh My! :o :o :o

It has already been said, but that was a rush. With the way that sounded on my headphones here at work, I would love to hear that on my surround sound at home. What a technilogical achievment. The thing that really caught my attention was when Bugati went to the F1 team and asked to use the wind tunnel and were told, "we don't go that fast". I cannot believe that I would ever disagree with Andrew, but i don't believe that any technological advance is ever completely pointless. The things VW learned about automotive aerodynamics will be applicable to every vehicle they build.

But still, what a rush just watching that video.

Now this is an interesting line....."but police have reported the Bugatti driver for driving without due care and attention."

You did that with that car around here I believe they'd call it "wreckless driving". We're not so nice.

Absolutely amazing!!!! But.....why would a car that travels 253 MPH have ANY safety equipment like an air bag? At that speed when you crash, the last thing that goes through your mind is your butt!!!!!!

If you crash at that speed, they'll just be looking for pieces of you spread over the next 1/4 mile.

That's probably only $75K in damage. But what's with the red and black paint. :CC

    Hi Sledge,
The black & red paint is original and reminiscent of an older Bugatti. Hard to tell from that picture, tho.

 hmmmmmmmmmmm...Fred, I didn't realize the 2 rone scheme was a Bugati deal but if you goto Google Images and enter Veyron, you will see most all of them have the 2 tone paint...the wrecked one is even there (before wreck)...

No kidding , that stuff is WAY out of my price range . But if I spent that kind of money , I would really like all the parts to match in color. Just poor boy thinking I guess. ;)

I'll see if I can find a picture of my '73 Chevelle Laguna. I bought it for $500 and put $600 in the motor in '87. Nothing ever beat me from 60 MPH to 120 MPH. I don't know how fast it went but, I wrapped the 120 MPH speedo around many times. Easily 150 MPH for less than $2000. Not too smart I know, but I was young and dumb at the time. I guess it wasn't ever going to go 253+ mph but it cost less than $2K to do it in '87.

I don't remember the numbers exactly, but in the beginning of the video he said it only took like 300 HP to get to 150 MPH and that an additional 700 HP was needed to get to the 253 MPH mark.

I think it's the extra 700 HP that cost sa lot of money to put in a "civil" road style car. price also assures exclusivity.
