In 1987 I was 15, my friend was selling his 1975 Mustang II v8 auto.....

Omigod. I had one of those Mustang IIs. It was actually my real first car, but I forget about it, and think of the GTO as the first -- don't know why???

Mine was a 1975 Mustang II MPG. That was the cheap, four-banger with the Four-speed manual, no power steering or power brakes, and an AM radio. I took it out one day to find it's top speed. It was 85 mph. That was maxed out. LOL.

The car I really miss is my CRX Si. It was an 85 model year, people didn't know that they made the Si model that year so they assumed it was the slower model. It was also quicker than the later model Si because it was lighter.

It was "riced out" before "riced out" was even a term. The guys at the dealership really helped me out. They road raced a similar car so they had connections. Their old driver has really made a name for himself in road racing.
The car was lowered about 2 inches with Mugen exhaust, and Tokico suspension.

The car ended up getting totaled when I was hit head-on by a drunk driver. She crossed the median and tried to run aftrwards. Of course she had no insurance and was under house arrest to boot!

1971 Triumph Spitfire. It had 51,000 miles on it and I loved the little car. My best friend at the time had a Corvette and made him so ad when we hung out at the park on Sundays. some cute little thing would pull up and to go for a ride. He always assumed they wanted to ride in the Vette but not so, it was always the Spitfire. I don't know what it was about that car but girls loved it. I have the fondest memories of that little car.

There's a few 'd like to have back. One of my favorites was a '71 Maverick, 302, 4 speed, 2:79 rears, bucket seats 60' on back 70's on front, Grabber hood, flames on the front. I still miss that car. Slower than molasses out of the hole but it would do near a 100 in second.
I would really love to have my Torinos back too. Had 1 '68 GT fastback all redone, had an American flag sewn into the headliner, sharp car.
Had 2 '69 GT fastbacks, one from New Mexico, no rust, 351 4bbl, automatic, I think it was originally white but the NM sun turned it a kinda cream color, never did get to redo it. The second one was a turquoise color all stock except somebody pulled the big block before I got it.

I guess if there was ONE I'd like to have back, it'd be the first pickup I ever had -- a 1981 SWB Albuquerque edition sport truck, with a 318 and a four in the floor, PS and PB but no air. What it *did* have was an Alpine stereo and the sweetest kickin' combination of engine, tranny and rear end I've ever driven, bar none. I bought it in '85. I had it seven whole months before it got totaled (never endo a pickup) taking my kid brother to a National Guard meeting.



I do, really, miss that truck.

Rich...I'd agree with you on the Maverick...I had a 69 1/2...first one in the state of Alaska....but alas...I only had the 200-6 and a 3 on the tree...but I ran the wheels off it!!!..I really think they had good looking lines on them...I drove the Alcan with it in 73 and it was 1600 miles of gravel at the time...Doug

A Fiat 126 --- I really loved that car! Bought the car new in 1979 when I just finished college and was in my first job. I didn't have a driver license at the time even though I was 28! Living in Wales as a student I simply couldn't afford one and only drove my father's car on a learner permit with him - he was disabled so always needed the car. Anyway he and I went to pick up the car from the dealership about 60 miles from our home. We left the lot and went about 2 miles and realized that the speedo was not recording and we couldn't get up any sort of speed. We returned to the dealership and they realised that during the pre-delivery inspection they had disconnected ONE of the TWO spark plugs along with the cable to the speedo. Popped them back on and away we went. After that I moved to a Fiat 127 and then up to a Fiat 128 which I sold immediately before moving to the US in 1984. I really wish I could have that Fiat 126 back to put in the garage beside the MGB, Jag and Mini Cooper.

'64 Corvette 1974 paid 1800. sold in 77 for 2750. (I thought I was quite the deal-maker - ha)
67 GTO Convertible bought @ 900 in 73 & sold @ 750 when the timing chain broke in 74.
73 Maverick with just 3 options - HD suspension/HD cooling and a 302. Bought in 77@ 700. - totalled by my buddy on an icy road. Ins. paid 800.
66 GTO H/T bought in 71 @ 950. sold in 73 @825.
70 Cougar XR-7 Convertible bought @ 750 in 1977 (needed paint) and sold @ 1800 in 1980.
68 Mustang California Special bought in 1983 @ 1200 (needed paint & int) sold in 86 @ 2350.
Since then I have driven newer stuff (mostly trucks) for the most part, but have a 66 Corvette Roadster as my "toy".

My first car was the one in my avatar. After I out grew that I shared a 58 Biscayne with my sister. When I saved up $200 I bought a ten year old 1957 chevy 210 two door sedan. I wish I could find a better picture of it.

This car was perfect inside and out. Used a student loan to buy it in May 1986, then felt guilty and sold it to have money for fall registration. But by the time that rolled around, I'd wasted the money on other things. So no car, no money either. Great move huh. I didn't even have the sense to take a decent pic. This is the only one I have and it was filthy at the time.

My room mate bought a motorcycle with his student loan money. He got a Honda Hurricane that was laid down, reglassed the fairings and gave it a rattlecan paintjob. Looked good, managed to flip it for twice what he paid.

Paid his tuition just in time and then bought a remote control helicopter with the rest.
