Wow, I didn't know this was a Minnesota thing. I had a friend for many years wishing me a "Happy Air-hose Day" but the correlation between that and St. Patrick's Day never hit home. I am not surprised by it; I was watching the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament this weekend and one of the fringe reporters was in a northern Minnesota town where they were getting together to make the traditional Blood Sausage. Mmmm, just like Mom used to make.

Those Minnesota Finlanders are unusual folk.

Ahh yes ..... Urho is an oldtime man,s Finnish Name indeed, St Urho who chased all them hoppity Grasshoppers Away....

That celebration was started by the Finnish Americans or American Finns long ago.. however here in the Ol Country of Finland this celebration is not known...

But I have heard of this celebration being held there amongst the Finns
up in Thunder Bay and Michigan and wherever the Finns have settled.

Yup us Finns are unusual arent we.... Blood Sausage, Sauna and Spirits.
8) 8) 8) However there are other Nationalities that share the Unusuality as well.... :D :D :D worse than us...

Well anyway Happy St. Urhos Day... and May the Grasshoppers all be chased away.. to other shores...

Ask any Finn about building houses in swamps... and the foundation being as strong as on solid ground even to this day...   Now is that unusual... :R :R
