getting reddy to skin the hatch lid and......

Postby Airspeed » Fri Mar 23, 2007 2:46 pm

I want to put some backing in to mount the gas lifting struts,
How far(in general) from the hinge towards the back does the average strut mount? I want something solid under the interior skin to bolt the gas strut to.
Thanks ! Aaron

I used solid oak for the mounting points of my gas struts. In places that needed reinforcement, I put down glass cloth and epoxy. There is a lot of stress in those areas. As far as placement goes, this thread helped me a lot.

Keep in mind, all hatches vary due to the radius.
