Yikes, I'm Making Some Sawdust

Well, I gotta start some where, so follow along. We has severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings last night so I thought I'd best move my truck back into it's little garage. This space is only 13'x22' and it's where I'm building my TD. Got to make room, things have to go! Just finished putting on a second coat of BSS (black sticky stuff) and installed the ridgid foam insulation - cool. I had to take the floor off the saw horses and stand it on end to make room for the truck. Moved trailer outside and chained it up so the boogy man wouldn't take 'er away. Went out this morning to start once again and looked at the floor with that damn BSS running all over and forming little black pools on my nice concrete floor.
I believe I took the Lord's name in vain many times for which now, I will have to repent and do something for mankind. A gallon of paint thinner and a box o' rags and it all cleaned up just fine so I put the gun away after thinking that perhaps Russian Roulette wouldn't solve my problems.
Now it's time to cut out the sides - stinking warped plywood. Got over that and cut out both sides, plotted where the spars are to go, mapped out the galley, lighting and cut out the doors. Now I'm 63 years old, have aches and pains when I move and have a spare tire mounted on my gut. So, thought I'd best make the doors a tad bit bigger and cut them 30" wide by 33" high and didn't use the traditional "TD" type door design. Way cool, I can get my little fat self in there now. I was using the Kuffle Creek plans but I think I threw them somewhere I can't find. Used the Desert whatchamacallit side profile and modified it and used the plans as a liner for the cat box. Okay, I'm on my own now and thinking things through so construction is going a little slower than usual but hate to find out later that I have to rip the sides off because I forgot something. The shop is small, sorta like building the Eiffel Tower in a closet but, it works and I'm out of the house, I can drink beer, cuss and moan without my wife hearing me. Life is good once again, going to go take some Aleve, aspirin, Ibuprofin and what ever else I can find and call it a night.

I never heard of anyone having any problem with the goo on the floor framing running. Is the atmosphere in Wisconsin like MARS!?

Seriously, you know that I'm HARDLY ever serious, but what the heck did you use that dripped/glopped off? The stuff I used wouldn't run if you used a pressure washer on it. Even a really STRONG pressure washer.

I used an asphalt emulsion like what you'd use for sealing up basements and stuff - just refuses to cure out.....

Did you use the Garner's in the green can?

I've heard others had this same issue with what they used. But the Garners ROOFING emulsion is a mucky crap that doesn't run at all and cures up pretty quickly. Even here in humid south Florida.

Or maybe it's spelled Gardner's, because at age 50, I guarantee you that my memory sucks a LOT compared to your memory at 63.

I put the evil smelling black goo on in 100 degrees and it tried to dry instantly. Bubbled up too. I second coated it just in case. I bet it ran all over the place in the cold damp.

I used a Henry's product for roofing!

Jack, thanks for the story...BIG chuckle here......since you have the skills, you have done the best thing you can do with your store bought plans and just go with that "gut" instinct

I think the Black S$%T I used was called "Quasimoto's Finest Black Irritating Basement Wet Stopper" Yeah, MJ other folk's printed matter seems like is doesn't come from their Gray Matter.

Okay, think I found an answer to using that agrivating black goo on the bottom of the floor!!! Go to: www.advancedrubbercoatings.com and check it out. Yeah, It's pricey but I think it has an "agrivation equivelant".

Hey Dhazard,
I agree with that philosophy 100%. We have a local brewery called Lienenkugels and they make a fantastic black beer called "Big Butt". I imagine if you drank enough of it that it would give you a big butt.
