I think a good scary movie might be good we'll put some thought into it.

Scott, I have one scary movie on the list. "White Noise" will give chills all night.

Although the check in is 2:00pm, most places I've been will let you check in a little early. Most people will arrive between 2:00 and 5:00pm (except Grover and Jill who could arrive any time before morning). It's fun to try to guess when Grover will show up.

BTW, I will arrive on Thursday to get a head start on the season.

Kurt I am hoping to get off work early that Friday but a lot depends on the day, so coming from N. IL I have a bit of a drive. I hope to be there before dark.

I already got a jump on the season by camping this weekend. Here is a Turkey for you all from my 1st camp out of 2007.

Jim, I felt like camping this weeked as we all did. I did get a chance to start up the fire pit in the back yard and enjoy one evening.

Do you have any Robins up North or do you tell whan spring arrives when the Turkeys show up?

I should be light until 8:00-8:30 by May 18th so you should be able to arrive in good shape.

I plan on it too. Bring that 12 string along. Last year I was in bad shape with the ruptured disc and medication I was on.
Hopefully this year we can make some noise (I mean music).

Some simple folk songs would be fun. Something that everyone knows. I'll bring some lyrics and chords so we can play along.

Some good campfire sing alongs are "Blowin in the wind", "Puff the magic Dragon", " This Land is your land", "Jamaican Farwell", Red River Valley", and lots of others.

Cindi & I should get there Friday around 2ish.

Anybody know what the firewood situation is at Turkey Run? I understand that I am in a quarantened county (Allen) and cannot bring my own firewood due to the Emerald Ash Borer. I would think even if I bought firewood near the park and had it in a truck with an Allen County plate I would have a problem. Anyone know how this works?

I don't really think they would know where it came from, if it was bought in county or brought in . Just my opinion.

I just bring a big crate full of srcap lumber from the shop. It burns fine & I get to clear out my scrap box & its bug free!!! :applause: :applause:
When I checked into Spring mill last year the gate asked me if I had wood ,I said I have regular lumber , then he said just say you don't have any , its easier he said. So I said no I don't have any wood , he said good. See ya.

Kurt
Us turkeys stay all year long so we have to wait for the robins

Illinios has EAB alert from wood from Michigan. It has infected one county in the Chicago area so they are pretty serious about asking in our State Parks. However how can it be policed in reality? It is always better to be part of the solution than part of the problem.

I can hardly wait for the fun.

Firewood of any species is currently not allowed from 12 counties in indiana. St joseph , porter , white , hamilton , marion , randolph , adams , huntington , allen , dekalb , lagrange and steuben. Illinois has only 1 county ? . Google "indiana state parks emerald ash borer" and all will be revealed. Suspect wood can be confiscated and fines are stiff. I guess they mean business. Stop on the way in the area and pick up a little if you are from a suspect county to be safe.

Roomer has it that there is some kind of square dance event taking place at Turkey Run the same weekend as the TD gathering. I don't know anything about square dancing but it may be of interest to others. A friend of mine tried to book a room at the inn and found they were sold out.

As far as square dancing I don't mind watching but the last time I did it was a long time ago in school gym class they made us learn it.

That brings back memories
