Yeah, if it wasn't wrapped in stainless steel, I don't think any teardroper would've given it a second look.

We bought the Coleman Steel Cooler a few years back.. mainly for nastaglic reason and is good looks I suppose. Works well, but we didn't expect it to keep ice like some of the XTreme coolers anyways. It does hold a lot for its size and works better than the cheap plastic coolers but not as well as the Xtreme models.

We like to have one larger cooler for food and a smaller one for drinks (you know.... ) .... maybe I have that backwards!?

One negative my wife has with the Coleman Steel Cooler is that the plug is not a screw in, so if you happen to move the cooler, and the plug rubs on something, the cooler empties all the meltwater all over your tow vehicle... this happened twice on us and almost ruined some valuables.

I just might get one of those Xtreme coolers this summer to add to our collection.

Don't you hate it when the cheese sitting on top in the cooler finds its way into the melt water? I hate that.... the biggest problem with camping no doubt.... soggy cheese

Looks are fine, and I like that, but I want COLD BEER! And, I WILL open it at least 24 times every day. Guess I'll just have to buy ice every day as well as beer.

About the cheese thing, what's it doing in with the beer anyway? All kidding aside, we put all edible things, as aposed to drinkable, in Zip-Loc bags. Some condensation will be inside, but not enough to make it "soggy".

No cheese, butter and any other dairy products are in Cooler #1 (food cooler). Unfortunately we bypass the use of zip-loc or tupperware. It can get purty messy in our cooler! Especially with spilt milk, a broken egg or a soaken bunch of hamburg patties... hey come over for a nice dinner sometime wont' yah?

Well in that scenariol.. what happens when you take out a beer or two? The cheese sitting on top falls into the soggy abyss you have just created... now remember the beer is in its own cooler... cuz it gets the most ice!

That only happens once a day! When I fill it with beer.

I have the stainless steel one and really like it. I originally bought it when I was going to build a trailer and liked the look and smaller outside dimensions better than a plastic cooler. Now I just use it with my current trailer since its ice box is pretty small.

I put two blocks of ice in it and it keeps for 3 or 4 days because I use a fridgemate in it (a small battery powered fan).

Gotta have 1 cooler for beverages, and 1 for food, case closed. does the stainless have a lift out 1/2 tray in the top? It works well for the deli cut stuff. I take 2 coolers in the boat! doug hodder

Mine didn't come with a tray but it does have a lip around the top for one. I found that I had a plastic container with a lid that fits it.

Wallymart has some new 5-day 50qt Rubbermaid coolers that have the wheels on the back instead of the side so it can slide forward and backwards. The other thing I liked about it is that the lid is split in two to help keep it colder longer. I can't find them on either Rubbermaid's or Walmart's site, but here's a picture:
