Some quick calculating...I figure roughly 500$ in fuel to get me to Minden and back...as we all know that fuel prices go up in the summer especially as you near the 4th....it's 3.20$ locally now. Doug

Tango:
While I fully applaud the idea of building alternative-fuel vehicles and such - the Tango looks to me more designed around the goal of reducing congestion and parking hassles than it's handling fuel issues. A narrow non-leaning vehicle is just plain going to have stability issues. (yes, I watched their video) ESPECIALLY at freeway speeds. It's not that much different than an ATV in that sense.
Given that big sail of a side - they'd have issues when passed by semi trucks too.
Plus - if you're driving with 2 people, it's just a lot more pleasant having the person sitting next to you. It's a lot easier to have a decent conversation.

I personally would be happy if they'd let ya drive golf carts on city streets. I could realistically use that for about 95% of my car use.

I'm for alternatives, but for rural folks the Tango and the little Key West (....cool place...I LOVE The Green Parrot Bar) cart just don't cut it. If you live in town they would be okay. And I believe that's what they're really developed for.

But you'd be crazy to drive one around Atlanta. You get on I-85, I-75 or I-285 (Hells Racetrack) and it's lights out baby!

I agree. Here in rual central Texas I feel like the little fish in the big pond driving my Escape. with all the deer and the normal 3/4 ton and 1 ton 4X4's I would be a bit scared to drive anything smaller. But if the escape ever dies I think I will get a Jetta TDI 45+ mpg sounds good to me I will just tie a few of those little orange bike flags to the roof so people see me.

Who do I contact at the manufacturer to inquire about them bribing city officials to make them street legal? I'm pretty sure that's how it's done here.

Cheapest gas I could find this morning in Bend Oregon was $2.89. I ride my gas powered bicycle to work weather permitting, but often drive my $800 car. The little Suzuki car gets 50 on the highway and 40 in town. Guess I need to sell my teardrop and make an ultralight version that this little car will tow.

The whole LSV story really galls me. In general, LSVs and NEVs are only legal to use on roads with speed limits of 25mph or lower. The cars CAN do better than that, but have limiters to prevent them from going faster. The auto companies lobbied heavily to create this new class of vehicle and hobble it at the same time! Plus - what idiot builds a car without doors...

Makes *NO* logical sense that I can ride a bicycle down virtually any road but a freeway - but you can't ride one of these little guys on these same streets.

It's not like similar cars haven't been built and made perfectly street legal before. There were at least a couple fully electric (and fully street legal) mini-cars built in the late 70's. Why the heck recreate the damned things only to so severely restrict them that virtually nobody can use them?

I agree If I could get a NEV that would go say 40 mph vs the limit of 25 they now have it would be so much more usefull for around town that I would seriously consider it.

Golf carts are legal in Sun City and other cities in and around Phoenix, Arizona on streets with speed limits below 45 mph
