Gas in your area.....

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

$6.94

That was last weekend on the way to test drive a Carver:

Sadly, it 'only' does 40-45mpg, because I guess it's fairly un-aerodynamic despite being narrow, but the British description of its handling would be that "it goes round corners like a ferret up a drain pipe" (this means 'enthusiastically').

I got about a 45 minute test drive with the salesman egging me on from the back seat and, yes, I did get the audible warning that the body had reached the 45 degree limit - it sounds a bit like a stall warning beeper!

I've had to lock away the cheque book to keep the small boy in me from taking charge.

The trip to Beaver's Bend cost me $115 in gas. That doesn't count the fact that my wife filled up the car before we left.

The price here in Round Rock was $2.48 when we left. When we got home it was $2.53.

That Carver looks really neat! But it would sure be scary on a road full of big rigs!

Filled up yesterday morn. $2.52, filled up last night $2.59--23 gal. same station. got 1/2 tank left now, will fill in morning, before leaving. Drive 200 to 500 miles a day, got a new astro in aug. with 114,000 miles, today it has 163,600. Oil changes of 5,000 miles don't make it to 3 months. Gas is only one part of your daily costs. The truckers are getting SCREWED and it will get worse after the end of this month when the mexicans can drive here without ANY of the safety laws, CDL rules, or insurance issues to worry about. Driving to Minden will be a trip of death by then.STOP THE INVASION and CLOSE THE BORDERS NOW!!!

You obviously don't use Mexican landscapers to cut your grass:

I pay $38 a month, and you want me to pay $100 to hire Protestants?

Nope all of our lawn service guys are WASP's. But all of our fast food prep workers are hispanic, and everyone that works the drive thru's must have a lack of understanding for the english language--which explains why nothing in the bag is right. McDonalds anounced the other day they are going to try a 3rd. party order system. You talk in the box, the order is taken and entered by Sheesh Bog Bandana and entered on the keypad and your order appears on the cooks screen inside-they put it in the bag--hopefully no mistakes? I guess it can't be any worse than it is now. Anybody else that wants a job now is heading for fla. watchout for the Ohio plates and the slow drivers.

As far as cutting my grass it's against the by-laws of IGWA. International Grass Watchers Assn. We get 1 gal. of gas per year to do the grass. Up here the grass has been dormant under the snow, if you want the gas to last you get may, june, july, aug. to cut. Sooner than may wakes it up and it grows fast, after aug we hope for burnout. No water that doesn't come from the sky, and only 1 cut per month. My grass after 4 weeks isn't any higher than my neighbors after 1 week.

George, you have no one to blame but yourselves..
If C.A.R.B didn't exist, you wouldn't have to use whats called " Boutique "gas and could use the same gas that Mexico uses. :D

C.A.R.B. only exists because of California!! Fuel is blended throughout the country about 7 times throughout the year so you will not have consistency. Now the truck drivers are getting it in the shorts because of the fuel prices and what would happen if freight stopped dead in it's tracks for one day in this country?
There are 12 million illegal aliens in this country who do not pay taxes, refuse to speak English and the list goes on and on. Research and read sometime what Mexico's laws are concerning immigration to their country, I think the US should adopt them.
Here's what we do: Bring home every troop that's deployed overseas. Have them stand border patrol.
When they catch a border jumper, the solder hands that person a rifle and ammunition and ships them off to Iraq.
If the refuse, take the rifle and ammo away from them and ship them to Iraq anyhow.
I gave 29 years of my life so people in this country could speak English, be an American, be proud and free. When some moron speaks his so-called native tonque in front of me, I consider that to be a slap in the face and I will not stand for it.

A gas war could be good. Anyone remember .21cent a gallon gas. Really bad when wages were only .50 cents an hour. Figure that one into todays numbers. For most low wage earners the percentages are close to the same. For us it is much better. 8)

Getting on in age, I recall $0.19/gallon... I put a 55 gallon drum in my trailer, as a teenager, and bought what I could afford, about 30 gallons.

Nothing like having a 30 gallon bomb in my garage (actually, my parent's garage)... think it was on sale and I saved about 4 cents per gallon (not much, but about 20% savings)....

Great in economical theory, but not really real-world practical...... never bothered again.
