I ain't buying it. I refuse to consider that I would be "north" of the Mason Dison line!

O my god--I'm starting to have vertigo. Must-----stop-----looking-----at-----crazy------map . . . :?
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Tony--

North is toward the big chunk of metal in the Arctic Circle, not necessarily up. You'll always be south of the Mason-Dixon Line, but may not be above it. :? I'm getting vertigo just trying to get this tiny brain around the thought.

No no no no no . . . . up is not down, right is not left.

I understand, but I will not accept it. I will never swallow the concept that I am looking down at the north star. I just refuse. I know it is relative, but I must have one constant in my world. Think of the drastic changes it would cause--we wouldn't throw up, we would throw down. We wouldn't lie down to sleep; we would lie up. Help me--I fell up and I can't get down!

Life is hard enough without being flipped and rotated.

Gotta go to bed now. I have to get down early in the morning.

That map freaks me out.

I just finished reading a book by Michael Collins (Command Module pilot on Apollo 11) and he mentions this a number of times, that the idea that north is up and south is down is ridiculous. Obviously when you are out in space the that map would be entirely accurate. It could just have easily be made sideways. Then the earth would rotate top to bottom (or vice versa). Or with the "North" Pole at the center. Wouldn't that be weird.

By the way if anyone is interested the book is titled Carrying the Fire and is the best book on the subject of Apollo moon landings that there is. I collect books by former astronauts and this is a fun read, not the most technical but the most real.

Now wait a second Tony, we didn't say anything about changing gravity just direction. Wouldn't down always be down towards the center of the earth? And just thinking of the fact that you can't swallow throwing down makes me queasy.......

If they can turn the world upside down and sideways, who says they can't repeal the laws of gravity? They change laws all the time.

At least we know one thing is certain from that map--if viewed from the edge, it proves the world is flat, and I can prove that by placing this tennis ball on the floor. See? It doesn't roll--that means the earth is flat. And more proof, using the upside down map as the reference, look at the view from the side:

Don't worry Tony. I have it on good authority that even if the laws are changed and it impacts your life you can make things like they are today by purchasing 'Gravity Offsets". Oh, maybe I shouldn't have brought those up.........
