I had to cut of 5 cross members that were sticking out 2 feet on each side and then welded on some new ones. I was thinking about adding some 5"
pieces on each side of the 4' wide trailer to support my 5' wide body,
should I bother? my floor is 3/4" AC so I think it might be good enough?
Also got my new tires and rims mounted! They match the rims on my truck. I am really getting excited now!! Aaron

I had to cut my axle and spread it 6", I got a piece of 2" square tubing that has 3/8th" thick walls and pounded the solid axle into it then plug welded and welded around each end,It worked out very slick. I think my MIG welder was one of the best tool investments I have ever made,If you dont have one,Get one,I cant tell you how many times it has paid for itself!

The sawdust is made! I am really close to finishing this project! I am going to skin it with aluminum next thursday then its time to go camping!

Thats my old Dorset, I bough that about 15 years ago,repainted it and redid the interior,I put a 100 hp inboard/outboard in it a couple years ago
and the carbs leaked like crazy,but it went 50mph. I am going to redo the paint someday soon I hope!

Nice rebuild on the trailer! You have a nice foundation for the rest of the build. I'm with you on the mig welders. :thumbsup:

It's easier for me than the stick machine I learned on. I can even do some out-of-position welds with it that I just could never get right with the stick welder.

It really opened up a new world for me! I cant believe how easy the MIG is, I tried arc welding in high school and was intimidated and unimpressed with my results so I worked exclusively with wood most my life,I just wish I would have learned to weld years ago! There are so many things I have fixed around the house that I would have paid someone else to do before I bought my own welder. It really has paid for itself many times over.

Airspeed....is that a Pacer Rally wheel? really looks like what I have, but I got a flat cap with a couple of ribs on it...Nice look...Doug

They are reproduction Chevy rims, The center caps are a little different than the ones on my truck,my truck caps have the word "Chevrolet" on them. Aaron
