Fold Down and Under TearTable

My wife wants a bit more table space for our tear (hey isn't that what the picnic table is for? ).

Anyways I have seen a few that use a pipe which slips into a fitting welded to the bottom of the frame to support a table top on the side of the tear.

Has anyone build one that will fold down and under the tear for transport?

Some friends who used to attend rendezvous (primitive black powder shoots) had a table top that rode under their trailer. No reason it wouldn't work, just make sure the bottom of the table faces the road! <G>

Yes indeed... I'll have to get out my measuring tape and take a close look. This would be perfect!

I'm on a roll now. Will have our back redesign done this weekend and will be itching to perfect the complete galley experience.

Went garage sailing today... bought the perfect table top for our tear made out of birch to match our kitchen galley.

Now on to design the folding support for it! Not sure if it has to be all custom, or if there are some prefab parts to make it all happen...

so fare this sounds like a good idea to me. I myself am thinking about a table that folds out of the gally or I might make a table inside that converts to my bed for rainy days.

I am putting a step well in the cabin area of the TD. The lid for the stepwell will be our table, 2 foot X 3 foot. It will have a post to set up inside for games or eat. Plus. a thre footed stand so we can take it outside.

I would think a table mounted under the trailer frame would pick up a lot of road dust and dirt.

True Mike. I planned on the finished side to rest up against the frame so it wouldn't get road kill splattered all over it. Probably a quick wipedown would do and my wife is thinking of just throwing on a table cloth of some sort.

Still thinking about this one... if I get going on it I post some info, and photos, along with a report on road damage

How about a slot for it? Something between the floor and the bottom? It seems to me I saw something like that in one of the old plans. There was a slot under the galley and part of the floor which you inserted a folding card table in to.

Too much work. I want it to fold up in under 10 seconds. Quick wipe and voila! dinner is served. Slot won't work as it fits up between the frame tubing.

Ok, how about a hinged table that matches the side wall behind the door. It could fold up on a piano hinge and be painted to match the trailer. Then you could just unlatch it from the top, and fold it down in to place.

Here is a pic I took at the last car show I went to. I think the trailer belongs to Bud Klinefelter, but I have such a poor memory it might be one of the other Old Dogs.



That is my favorite table. It is a simple steel rod that inserts in to a slot on the trailer base, then the table attaches to it. I watched him set it up and it only took a few seconds.

That is a realy nice put to gether kitchen. It is simple but very nice.
