Free counter top from old pallets

Postby legend lime » Sat Apr 07, 2007 7:02 pm

The other day I was out looking at my TD and thinking of what I was going to make the counter top out of. So I went upstairs in the in my garage and started looking through the lumber I have and I ran a cross some old popular I had from some pallets I had taken apart a couple of years ago. I pulled one of the 3/4" X 3" boards out ran it through the joiner and then the plainer down to 1/2" cut it to fit layed it out on to 1/2" baltic birch and this is what I ended up three days later after sanding and four coats of clear. kind of rustic

Your counter top really looks great Legend!!! What is really cool is that you have a story to go with it...those poor little boards probably thought they were going to be firewood...and you've given them a wonderful new home! Really adds some character to the build... Doug

Cool counter top.

Pallet art is a fun thing. I've done a queen-size headboard and a end table and throne for my special fishing spot. It's fun stuff but what a pain pulling all them twisted nails out.

Beautiful wood working and an excellant reason my wife should allow me to have more shop tools.

What a neat idea. I love the idea of recycleing old wood like that and giving it a second life. Great job.
