Hello from Colorado!

Postby MrMatt » Sat Apr 07, 2007 10:10 pm

I am hoping to start building a trailer either summer or fall 2007. The information I have already gotten from this site has been so valuable. I am looking forward to being a part of this online community. I see some great trailers out there.

Hia MrMatt. Welcome to the forum. Its good to see another soon to be builder in the springs. I have "just one more" project to finish before I can start my build. But, at the rate I am progressing, that may be a while. I am planning a 5x9 (ish) Benroy (ish). There are just to many nice places around here to camp - but I hate sleeping outside... so I can't wait to get started.

Welcome other Colorado Teardroppers. I love having my TD and the ease of camping, protection, and comfort. I come from a background of backpacking, still backpack, and the TD is great to get away in comfort. I use it for a basecamp for climbng 14ers. I can get away on the forest roads and still have luxury. Enjoy the build and the final product.

Welcome, glad to see another VW fan here (there are several).

You'll definatly want to pay attention to the threads on light weight builds. We plan to pull our TD with our TDI Beetle, but I might put a hitch on the 77 sunroof Beetle and see how it does.

Hi Matt,

I can't say much about VW's since I've never had or even wanted one... but I can say... Welcome, I'm in Littleton, CO and my brother and I built the Cherry Drop from January to July 2006. She's built light, 750 lbs with tongue weight of 70 lbs and I can move her around like a grocery cart! I pull her with a 98 Chev S10 PU and can run 80-85 and not know she's there!

Have fun with your build, there are some awesome teardroppers in Colorado, join us for some camping or just seeing this summer!

Matt.... welcome welcome... and all you Colo folks , hope us from the South Central group can camp with you soon !!!

Matt... take up any offers to go see one in person, no matter what. It makes a real difference ... open and close the hatch yourself, lay down inside... get a feel for it and not just pictures... I'm glad I did before I started cutting wood...

Glad to have you here...!!
