Imus--Stay or Go?

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Postby wolfix » Wed Apr 11, 2007 7:50 pm

I have watched this Imus situation with interest. I don't know what to think about the guy before this happened... But I know now that he should know better to say the things he did in this politically charged world.
I see that his show got a 2 week suspension. So today I called the guy I'm working with a much nastier name then Imus called those Rutgers players, but I have to keep going to back to finish the job. I wasn't as lucky as Imus.

These girls did not deserve to be insulted on national radio by anyone. The thing I see wrong with this picture is that these are just girls playing basketball. Let's don't sacrifice Imus because of the racial issue, let's sacrifice him because he is a jerk. Big difference.

I would like to see him call the coach of Rutgers [Vivian Stringer] a name to her face. I have been around her several times when she was coach here in Iowa.. He might not be able to handle her one on one.........

Does anyone in America take Al S or JJ serious?

amen, sister.
If this lowlife white-trash old guy with no skillz doesn't lose his job, there ain't no justice.

But then, I like women's hoops.
The Rutgers team has guts, class, speed, shooters, moves and a coach who deserves an NC.
UTenn has ... a chick who can dunk.
So?

C. Vivian Stringer's squad didn't have a senior in the starting five. They'll be back.
Imus? He's a has-been.

I know who Imus is but I don't listen to him, I don't watch him, I don't care about him.

As far as Sharpton, Jackson, even Farrakhan go, those guys just need any type of issue that can be considered "racial" so that they can stay in the public eye. It's really just self promotion for them.

I'm not an Imus fan. His comments were stupid. Imus aploligized. His comments weren't made in a hatefull rage. Just a stupid attempt at humor. This guy has been insulting people for over 30 years. Why does this one get so much press? Al and Jessie, two guys who should have stayed clear of this one (because of their own indiscretions pile on). The main stream media runs with it, pandering to the black audience. The Rutgers girls comments seemed written for them. If these girls can't get past a nasty comment and get on with their lives they have way bigger problems.
I am very interested in how the main stream media deals with the Duke Lacrosse team players being cleared of all charges of rape brought by a black stripper. Now given the fact that rich white kids were basiclly found guilty in the press before any trial mostly because the victim was poor and black. She lied. Now will Al, Jessie and the media come to their defense? I believe it's harder to get on with your life after you have been accused of rape then having nappy hair. But somehow I don't think the Today show will leed with a 20 minute segment Thursday morning.

We all enjoy free speach till we say something someone doesn't like. At work we couldn't ask who was on the other end of a data line because it was sexist, and we can't repeat anything in music (?) blasted around us because they can use it but we can't.........

BS!!!!!!! Everyone needs to lighten up a bit, or all play by the same rules. If some of these guys didn't have these "racial issues" to scream about, they'd be just like everyone of us - but isn't that what equality is all about?

Cool - Anus got fired............. Yes, we do infact have the right to say exactly what we want however, inflammatory remarks made by people over the national airwaves generally are not accepted by the masses. Words are words - plain and simple but there is the escalation value to those words and we American do love a good fight and what better way to start one than to call someone a derogatory name. We just don't back down. Now what about Anus and Rosie getting together what would you call that? MOVING TARGETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could care less about the whole thing. But, on my way home from work I heard the coach of Rutgers on a national sports program being interviewed. She mentioned that Imus stated that he was a good person who said a bad thing. Her analogy was something to the effect of, if a person gave a million dollars to charity doesn't mean he could kill someone. How does one bad comment even compare to killing a person. Was it wrong, yes. Was it murder, no.
Talk about playing it for all it's worth. :grouch day1:

I agree with you Bledsoe, I could care less. I've never listened to guy and hell, folks screw up all the time anyway. Just let it go.

But, it did get the A. N. Smith story off the air for awhile.....that's was nice.......

I didn't care for Imus's show on radio or TV and didn't listen or watch BUT I wonder what effect this will have on his RANCH? If it closes then will we hear from Jackson's and Sharptin's the people at Rutgers, big business that pulled out ads? My guess is NO.

He'll just go the way of Howard Stern and move on to somewhere he will make even more money than he does now.
Making such a major issue out of something that was so stupid was just a total waste of airtime. Of course most of the airtime is wasted these days.
