Okay...Here I go! Durabak Time!

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

Postby elmo » Sat Apr 14, 2007 7:58 am

I am glad the kids are out of town. I have another suggestion...If you have a attached garage pick a day you can do it outside. Pretty rough in here today. My wife puts up with a lot and usually doesn't complain or say to much about my goofy ideas, but not so much with the smell that is drifting around the house. At one point it was so bad her comment about, "not waking up in the morning" and "I wonder who will find the bodies", didn't seem so far off.

It is dry to the touch this morning, but a little tacky. I was going to take another picture, but it looks the same as the last picture.

Another thing, this stuff makes Gorilla Glue look like Silly Putty as far as sticking to skin. I must of rubbed my head at one point yesterday and the Xylene didn't even touch it. I had to take a knife and scrap it off...my hands are a lost cause. Durabak has rubber particles in it that jump off the roller and stick to anything.

Oh well...I have to go feed this talking racoon. :? Did you know they like egg plant?

Elmo you might try a little hand lotion or oil to help remove the "stuff". Sometimes dry skin helps things stick. ;)

Oh yeah---duct tape might pull it off. 8)

Let's see! I have tried Xylene...some stuff called True Grit...gas...finger nail polish remover...a nice warm vanilla soap from Bath and Body...and after all that I needed the hand lotion. I think this stuff just needs to wear off. But thanks for the ideas. :)

It might sound stupid, but I am glad it is stuck on this bad. It could be worse and just wash off with the warm vanilla soap. Then I would be in trouble.

I gotta laugh   since I closed my body shop and sold it, my hands are cleaner than they had been in years. Working with all the paints and window sealants my hand where always one color or another. My wife always complained why I couldn't clean my hands off with solvents, I tried to tell her that it don't always works that way and the solvents would dry my hands out terible. Putting hand lotions does help removing the stains later, but you have to remember to put the hand lotions on first.

Just don’t use a knife to “scrape it off” :frightened:

Isn't it funny how you "feel the need" to itch your nose just as soon as your hands get covered with something like that?

Sorry for my absence.

What's driving ME nuts is that I know that Elmer's pictures don't do the stuff real justice.
Here we go again!

Come 3:30pm CST I will be ready to start a new thread. I have some buddies coming over and it will be on the trailer by 3:45. I have a feeling it will have a different look on the trailer and outside. After I finish my beers I will try and attempt to post pictures. Wish me luck.

The house fumes are starting to clear out and the dog isn't falling over as much.
