Compact Trailer Popup Mechanicals and Corner Moulding

Postby louisnord » Mon Apr 16, 2007 12:56 pm

Hello!

I am building a pop-up camper/utility trailer shell very similar to George Teague's GT Compact, David Byrum's Compact Clone, or Jim Teiss's 3 Way Trailer. I am most interested in finding out more detail on the mechanical detail of George's pop-up top. Also, I would like to find an inexpensive source for simple right angle corner molding (aluminum or vinyl) to finish off and protect my corners and edges.

Thank you.

Lou

George uses a device called "The Human Arm Mark 1" - you lift the roof panel with one hand while pushing up the front or back panel with the other hand. Repeat until all four sides/ends are up.

Is the pop up roof attached to the sides (front or back) with a sissor like hinge or arm with roller in a track on the inside of the top??
