I've got a Celestron C8 but it's big and heavy when combined with everything else to take camping. I prefer a good sized set of binoculars that double for wildlife and astro viewing.

Would like to take the C8 camping sometime and view some really dark skies.

I purchased a Celestron NexStar 60slt tonight and already have had a pretty good show with it. It sets up easy and tracks pretty nice.

When I saw your post I thought it was something you won in the health wealth raffle. When scanning through the winners list I saw several E Millers. Did you buy any tickets?

I wasted $250 $>

Check out this thread:

http://tnttt.com/viewto ... =telescope

I don't know if Elmer wound up buying one, but I know that I didn't (for my kid). Someone wound up giving us one.

The most practical one for shlepping around seems to be the Edmond Astroscan. It's also the most durable, because all of the optics are completely sealed. Also, per a recommendtation you'll read in that thread, that you DON'T need or want the tripod for it. It's a lot easier to use just putting it on a table.
Here we go again!
