Oh my Oh my I have plagiarized, I have stolen someone else's idea. Shame, oh shame on me. I was priding myself in being original and artistic.

None the less I am still so proud of my wrinkles and runs. They have to be unique. They are soooo beautiful.

Perhaps we can compete to see who gains the most in commissions from the showing of our unique "art".

 8) ;) That would be you for using Epoxy and not varnish. And I am sure my baby's tears are from hormones not art. ;) There are just too many and they are so random. :R

Ok,

Similar expression, Different medium, each unique but classified in the same genere. We'll show on opposite sides of the museum hallway.

8) Poor Keith, his sandy sides don't stand a chance. Shoot by the time he gets to the campground they won't even be visible under the bugs and road stuff. :R ;)

runs and sags

Postby Lesbest » Fri Apr 20, 2007 9:07 pm

If the runs and sags are visible and the paint is soft yet, many body supply shops sell sag removers. Not AutoZone or PepBoys, but the real supply houses, the wholesalers that supply the body shops. This tool looks like a short 2 to 3 in. of a file, and the teeth are curved and about an 1/8 inch deep, and you carefully slide it over the run like you would use a cheese grater. Saves lots ot time, after the paint cures and is buffed you would never know they were there.

Using interlux on my boat, it does stay tacky or soft for what seems like a long time, but the paint gets like iron and holds its shine for a long time and is very durable.

If you want the paint to flow really nice when using a brush add a little Penetrol, from the Flood Corp. It increases the drying time somewhat and you can feel the extra drag on the brush when applying, but it flows so there are no brush marks.

We had one at the paint shop I worked at. It was called a paint planer. It would take out runs, bugs, and various imperfections, one more quick shot of paint and you'd never know it was there.

I am ddeeply grateful for all suggested remedies, But remember. This is a work of art. Now, why would I want to go and scrape, rasp, vegetable grate and ruin a masterpiece? :o . ONe simply has to see it to believe and understand and appreciate the time, effort and creativity that went into this masterful piece of art. Thanks but :R  ;) no thanks.

Even from a stance of practicality, The "artwork" (runs, sags, wrinkles) provide much more "protection" from the elements for they are much thicker than a single coat.

I firmly believe that in the future my efforts and style will be widely adapted by most of the more intelligent practitioners (those having artistic sensibilities) of most crafts that require the application of epoxy and/or various paints. For, Is not beauty in the eye of the beholder???

Now this response is written with great compassion and a sense of respect for your struggles to grow into and develop your appreciation for Runs and Saggs. The wave of the future is HERE!!

Yep, I'm losing it fast. Going to my counselor today. I need help :P

Geron....I think that you have maybe found a positive to the whole increased gravity theory that is floating around out there. I think Dali first discovered it when working with clocks... ;) Doug

That's deep -- Really deep. Yet a look on the bright side; a sliver lining in every cloud. If you get the down drift.

You guys sure have been busy...
Well, I sanded the galley door by hand.. big mistake,... I repainted and you can see all the sanding scratches... but you know what... enough is enough....it's time start doing something instead of redoing stuff...plus in another 40 days I might be in harvest and wont have time for this project.. anyway...the galley door has been mounted and the Fantastic Fan put in.. it's set to be put on the trailer tomorrow... I'm going to say this is by far not my best work.. I'd probably use many of the building techniques again and probablly all of the same products with the exception of the paint...and I'd for sure use better "finish ply" as to get a better surface...none the less...it's comin together - I'll post some photos tomorrow after she's set.

I suspect to get a better end result, more coats of primer/sealer are better than more coats of paint.
