I reserved my campsite Saturday. 8)
Looks like the drive up from the south side from Ark Hwy 10 just west of Casa then turn north on Hwy 155 to Petit Jean park is great if you are horsepower challanged with a heavy trailer. It is just slightly longer and is a little more winding but very easy grade to climb. Ark Hwy 10 ( Seanic 10 ) is smooth and in places new ( year old pavement ). One area that I know of to watch out driving east on Ark Hwy 10 Senic is at US-71 south out of Fort Smith, AR and Ark Hwy 10 Junction at Greewood, AR is where several accidents have happened over the years. There caution lights at the Junction but be carefull during weekday 2PM till about 7 PM if you travel that route. It is a great view and drive if you have the time ( not that much difference than the others from Ark Hwy 22 both about 100 miles from Fort Smith,AR to the park). There are a few turns and you need to watch the signs and stay on Ark 10 Senic Hwy ( good to have an Arkansas Map on hand or laptop with GPS and mapping software). The only down side is the travel up Ark 155 to the park from just west of Casa, AR that is located on Ark 10 Hwy is that the trees a few miles near the top had a forest fire a few years back and still reflect the damage in that area.

I reserved 53. I will try to get a map scanned and added to the top post.

Good info Pat. I wuz gonna try the map bit last week but I'm pretty computer challenged & that's probably beyond my capabilities :?

I noticed the fire remains on 155 coming down last Monday, also looks like a little bit of severe freeze damage in a few places lower down, especially the younger/smaller bushes such as sumac, etc. The top of the mountain didn't look as if it had a great deal of damage.

We used to drive Hwy 10 coming from Oklahoma years ago (1960/70's) before I-40 was completed all the way between Ft Smith/Little Rock. It is surely a scenic drive & not nearly as winding as it used to be.

Sure hope we have a good turnout for this 8)

Just a reminder, folks planning to attend should make reservations before too long! ;)

Pat,
We are going to make this gathering. I would be happy to keep a campground map if you like.

Todah & Julie, There'll probably be plenty of sites available even up into July, they just may not be in loop B. Park personnel say there's usually plenty of space in July & August except on Holiday weekends & the big car auction in mid-June. Hope y'all make it, looks like we're already gettin' a pretty good group. Hate to miss Cedar Hill but I've still some work to do on my tear & family obligations take some priority also ;) . We're still gonna try to make it to Minden for at least a day or so but the Wyoming deal with friends has been in the works for two years & it's the same week. Probably not more'n a day's drive from Wyoming to Minden but it'll depend on how things go  . It'll be nice to see you folks again in July.

Thanks Scott for the great map!
I was looking for a scanner to do just that.
Scott looks like you are the map keeper.
Great job!

Now I need to work on the trailer to get it campable these next few weekends.
The next two months I have (SAR) Search and Rescue pre-training ( I provide communication and ground support - I swim like a rock :? and fly as graceful as a rock :R - and repel like a rock  ).

I was just talking about this kewl gathering a few minutes ago with a coworker, her and hubby and 7 y/o love camping and she *might* come out there about the same time, we'll see.

My son is going into the Nat'l Guard and basic training will be in VA but not quite sure exactly when Graduation ceremonies will be but could likely be end of July .

I'll know better after the first of June.

WOO HOO !!!!

and Kit .... don't worry, we're a nice friendly group !
