Well I just join the world of Teardrop Enthusiasts by picking up my very first Teardrop trailer. Don't know much about it, but it does look to be homemade. It is a clean slate for a creative mind for the interior is gutted. It is on a 4x8 chassis with an axle made in Indiana (has serial number). I am looking forward to this new adventure and plan to travel Route 66 with it strapped to my 1967 Volkswagen Convertible in 2008.

Hey Mark. Like having a head start Huh. Welcome to the play ground and thanks for the pictures.

First thing I would do is make that door bigger and put another on the other side. You only need a couple of inches on the bottom of the door to hold stuff in.

Thanks Miriam. It does have a tiny, tiny door. That may be my first undertaking.

Hello, and Welcome Mark:

Looks to me like one issue you should address is the hinge on your hatch.
Look here for Ideas of a hurricane hinge or other solutions to keep the
elements out of your new camping home:

Route 66 holds a special place in the hearts of people as the Mother road:
Here is a thread that we have been dancing with about that magical road way.

Welcome from another Oregonian. I'm pretty new at this myself, but there seem to be quite a few of us "webfoots" here. Keep us up to date on your new project!

WELCOME VW; I'm new myself; but this forum is a God send if you're building anything associated with a Tear Drop.

If you plan to do any electical stuff, check out this thread.

http://tnttt.com/viewto ... c&start=90

This thread is one of the finest, simple , educational and professional group design of an electrical system for tear drops that I've seen. The amazing part is how numerous people worked together to build the final design. Only problem I've seen is getting them to Fresno to install it for me.

There seems to be some self proclaimed "Different People" with this group (you know the crazy types), and I'm doing my best to draw them out. Our Officals need to know about all the folks with a sense of humor, I'm sure they would reward a person handsomely for a list and more information on people that are enjoying their lives. There certainly could be a tax on fun loving "Different People".

But HONESTLY* These folks are all about helping us "Dumbies" enjoy the fun of building a Tear Drop. The only fun I've had so far is checking out all the "Hot Mamma's" at Lowe's. I think I'll find my next wife (after this one runs me off of course), at Lowe's. Hardware, Lumber, "Hot Mamma's", Lowe's has it all.
