Okay... so I used putty tape under the flanges of the roof vent and that's it...should I put a dab of sealant ontop of the exposed screw heads and around the perimeter? I'd prefer not to, simply due to looks, but I thought I read somewhere that it's pretty much necessary...is this true?

Keith, I think that a dab UNDER the screw head and in the screw hole are more important...PROPER instalation of the putty tape would have you put a bead of silicone(don't like it myself) around the base to help protect the putty tape....

Yeah, I do not like silicone at all.. but I can back the screws out a little and put a dab of it in there then re-seat the screws.. Thanks.
