Saying Hello

Postby jtaltman » Sun Apr 29, 2007 9:36 am

This is a great forum. I've been lurking since last summer and have been awed by everyone's creativity.
We've owned tents, popup's and an RV. Now we're downsizing. We don't want the hassle and expense of the big rig.

We purchased a 6x 10 cargo trailer to assist us with moving our furniture to our future home in the North Country (NY). We currently live on Long Island. Once the cargo trailer was in the driveway I got to thinking
 ... what if we took all the camping supplies and outfitted the trailer? We had kitchen cabinets from a remodel, mattresses, etc.
So why not?
I want to thank Catrinka and everyone else for the great photos of their TTT.

Spring Tearup

Postby jtaltman » Sun Apr 29, 2007 6:02 pm

Kerry:  I'd love to get over to Fish Creek to see all the teardrops but we are locked to Long Island until the July forth week. My hubby, Bill, gets limited vacation time and we have a 17 year old boy, Mike, who will be taking Regents and finishing 11th grade.

Our family will be relocating permanently to Plattsburgh area sometime in 2008. So for the next year and a half we'll be going back and forth. Maybe over time I'll actually get to see a teardrop up close!

So for now I'm going to have to focus on using the cargo trailer. Someday I'd love to add some windows and an awning to the 6x10. I'm just a little nervous about cutting into the trailer's aluminum skin. Conceptually I get the idea. It just scares me that I'd make a fatal mistake and ruin the integrity of the skin. I got some inexpensive (cheap) floor tiles and put them in. I also got an inexpensive (cheap) sink basin for the kitchen area but that is Bill's part of the project.

I'm starting to get into this posting thing so maybe I can figure out how to take some pictures and show everyone.

Jan,

The posting thing is a good thing... and pictures are not that tough. If you've been using a digital camera then check out the "help with photos" up there in the menu.

Mike...

P.S. Oh yes, Welcome to the forum!!!

The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten, so build your teardrop with the best materials...

Jan,

There are lots of 'TearJerkers' events thoughout the year and lots of them are in NE PA or NJ. Make sure and keep an eye on them and try to visit one. 'len19070' is the one to contact for all information on the TearJerkers events around here. PM him and see what's up.

Hi all,
I posted some pics of our progress on our 6x10. I started a new thread under the Cargo Trailer conversions topic.
