Rockets for Schools

Postby BrwBier » Tue May 01, 2007 6:47 am

I know this is short notice and I really ment to put this up sooner but my trailer and Cooler Near The Lake took all my time. Someone here is into rockets and I don't remember who it is but I thought some might be interested in this.

If anyone comes to this and can't find a place for their teardrop, you can see the rockets take off from my back yard, it only 3 blocks to the launch site. Next year I will try to put this up sooner.

I volunteered at the local elementary school for a couple years. It was lots of fun. The kids really got into it, it like hearding cats. Our company sponsored it and the kids got a lot of cool prizes. I haven't done the classroom building the last couple of years because it is really hard waking up that early. I get home at 6:30 and I have to get up at noon in order to the school ontime.

I take my daughter out to the desert and we shoot off rockets that we have built. It seems the rockets today are too easy to build. I remember when they took a much longer time and weren't mostly prefab. It's still a good time to spend with my daughter........

My Dad and Bro are really into rockets.
My bro's rocket group is http://www.wvsoar.org

Here is his Baby all hand made. He is the one down by the motor. For scale, that is my sister-in-law standing there and she is 5'6"

I think for next years "Cooler Near The Lake" I will try to make it on the Rockets For Schools weekend. Just something to keep in mind. Check out the web site, this is the 11th year. Now Sheboygan is well on the way to building a space port.

Pres, is that the "Blue Ninja"? I have one, the kids like the big rockets, quite frankly so do adults. I read that you should put some scotch tape on the edges of the body tube to prevent the blue film from coming off. I should done that because before too long, my blue ninja will become a silver ninja.

Yep, it's the dreaded "Blue Ninja".

Also, we either have, or are building a Space Port up here North of Las Cruces, New Mexico. They were going to blast off some rich people into space or something. I saw the sign but wasn't sure how far they got with it! I think the aliens captured over near Roswell have something to do with the inter-galactic commerce on this..........!?
